Gave a talk at #ExoELT on this massive disk colloquially known as Dracula's Chivito and what more we know from Subaru and HST IR data. Had some great feedback and discussion on trying to understand what makes this disk soo "chonky"
And giving a talk at @eso.org is a dream come true!

Lost Sisters Found: TESS and Gaia Reveal a Dissolving Pleiades Complex Most star clusters dissolve into the Galaxy over tens to hundreds of millions of years after they form. While recent Gaia studies have honed our view of cluster dispersal, the exact chronology of whic...

New paper from my group!
Stars aren’t born aloneβ€”they form in massive associations. If we want to understand how stars and planetary systems form, we need to figure out where today’s clusters came from… and where all their long-lost siblings ended up.

Pretty impressive given how JWST design is technically older than a lot of ground based instruments... and given how our whole deal as exoplanet nerds is to get closer to Earth like planets in solar system like config by improving high contrast imaging and hi res spectroscopy.

I'm surprised penguins arent used sure they're a lot smaller, but I think better in penguins. Bipeds are also just more relatable

M. Nowak discussing synergies with VLT Interferometer (VLTI) and #ELT at #ExoELT - ELT has the >30m aperture for sensitivity, but VLTI combines all 4 VLT telescopes over a 200m baseline for better angular resolution, complementing sensitivity of ELT #astrodon #astrosci

Adding to the ELT discussion, here's me next to ELT (Oct 2025) to give an idea of the size (I'm 5 ft 2 in tall). I was completely blown away by the sheer largeness of this facility, and can only imagine the amazing science it will be capable of.

It’s #ExoELT week! A week dedicated to discussing all things exoplanets and the ELT, @eso.org’s 39-m telescope coming online in 2029 😱 The size of this machine is just extraordinary. You can fit a whole VLT telescope on its Nasmyth platform 🀯

It's been 2 weeks since #AO4ELT and must say, a very profound experience in terms of meeting new folks, sharing ideas, having lunch with, and obviously some amazing work in the ELT era presented in talks and posters :)
And obviously, great time at the VLT and ELT sites!

Back to microblogging for a bit. Here's what I'm up to now:
- On the job market looking for positions in AO, esp. a combo of HCI science and instrumentation
- Giving talks at #AO4ELT in Chile and Exo-ELT in Germany
Here's a little teaser on what I'm working on at
