I really need to stop treating browser tabs as my to do list

Itโs nice to know that no matter what the work day throws at me, nothing else today will be harder than getting my 4 year old to wear his shoes.
Honestly I feel like this might have been a Batman and Robin situation. This interview has one extremely iconic asskicking participant and one very enthusiastic sidekick there to ask questions. :)

But don't kill yourself for work, because work can kill you enough on its own. You don't need to hand it the weapon.
In one of these jobs I worked such long hours in front of a computer that I gave myself corneal distortions.
I fucked up my eyes and couldn't wear contacts for almost a year, and what did that get me? Laid off just like everyone else in my division when the economy crashed.
I was just getting a toehold post-college when the 2008 recession hit, and I had job after job fall out from underneath me over the span of 2 years.
It was rough at the time, but now I'm really glad that my first major career lesson was:
you can love your job but THE JOB DOES NOT LOVE YOU BACK
It would be awesome if the word 'bashful' meant what it sounds like it should mean, and we find out all these seemingly timid, shy people are secretly just destroying people left and right.
"I'm so bashful - I just bashfulled three people in that meeting."

(Usually this memory surfaces when I have tried to fish sugar cereal out of our pantry containers with my hand. I can reach the good stuff just fine but really have to work at wiggling a hand full of Frosted Mini Wheats back out again.)
I regularly think about the part of Where the Red Fern Grows where Billy traps the raccoon in the log with angled nails. He lures the raccoon to reach in for something shiny and then the raccoon canโt get its arm out again.
The book says it could get unstuck if it dropped the shiny treasure, but

because "most cars are going and only sometimes do we stop, but mostly we much go and then most cars stop"
It's really hard to play this game against 4 year old logic. :)
Your choices are:
โ1. I ever see houses
2. I always see dogs
3. Most cars stopโ

Watching people make mini connections makes me feel a little more optimistic about society as a whole.
Still not at all optimistic about my travel logistics, but I feel better about humans.
I legitimately love watching all the passenger reunions happening at the gate right now as everyone from our diverted flight tries once again to make it to Newark. All the strangers from yesterday's flight became single-serving friends.

Today my flight is delayed and another passenger two seats away from me in the lounge decided to start practicing the flute.
