I’m no Newsom fanboy, but figuring out how to change the incentives of institutions considering capitulation is one of the big tasks of our moment.

Granted I usually put on some headphones to give them privacy (which they don’t even know about) and so I don’t feel like I’m creeping on them. But I also find something sort of comforting about our lives passively overlapping since so much of US life is really lonesome and isolated.

Sometimes people get bothered by being able to hear neighbors. I don’t really get why. It’s not so loud to the point it’s the only thing I can concentrate on and she’s never complained about my DJing which I assume she can hear. We live in a city, the presence of people is sorta the point!

So at various points my apartment has had raccoons and squirrels living in the walls. Additionally my upstairs neighbor is a middle-aged public school teacher with a weekly dick appointment (100% support). But that means once a week I think the raccoons are back… until they really get going upstairs
