Legislators could override nearly every Newsom veto. Why don’t they? Most bills Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed passed the Legislature with enough votes for an override. The Legislature hasn't tried since 1979.

Unless the California Legislature seriously departs from decades of past practice, they won't override his veto. I find it insane, but they haven't overridden a veto since 1979: calmatters.org/politics/202...

Hmm…I’ve never seen a Nevadan dressed anything like that (granted, I’ve never lived in southern Nevada, so can’t speak to what they wear there).

In what spare time are law students supposed to build up their hand and finger endurance to be able to handwrite 3-hour essay-based exams? Because that's how long a single law school exam generally is at the law schools I'm familiar with.

Also, in my experience, non-smokers (including my immediate family) didn’t let smokers smoke in their homes. As a kid with asthma, it was hellish enough to have to breathe smoke in restaurants, public places, or my smoking relatives’ homes. Forcing others to breathe smoke was what I found impolite.

Interesting. When / where was this? In my half century, I never saw this. The only people I knew with ash trays were smokers.

I have the same box, but, tragically, there’s only one left! My husband and I will have to draw straws over it. (To be clear, there were 3 left earlier today…before we each ate one.)

It sidesteps the very problematic context of this case + the implications of the Supreme Court using it in this way. Not to mention, I don’t think KBJ is one for histrionics. This seems like a “well actually…” that’s actively ignoring / trying to make us feel better about something pretty bad.

I don’t get it. Is this like when women are told they don’t smile enough? Because the only difference I see is that the dogs’ resting face appears to be mouth open (probably mid-pant), whereas the cat’s resting face is mouth closed. (If the cat were panting, that would mean it was ill.)
