Can ChatGPT generate me a file with all the references from a bibliography I have in word? I tried this out because I'd heard from multiple sources that it could, and I teach and use software for managing references, and this would be a really useful thing to be able to do. #medlibs (thread)

I broadly agree and the ideal scenario is that Dano (who I think remained silent) just shrugged and said that this great director/writer and film nerd is well entitled to his opinion. My issue there is Tarantino‘s views on Dano (whilst definitely not “mean“) were clearly deluded and seemed grudgy

A large number of public-hire electric scooters cluttering the pavement (sidewalk) in a city centre.
What’s the collective noun for these?

Annual reminder that without literary translators, most Nobel Prize-winning authors couldn’t be read by the committee/readers, so celebrate them too. Congrats @ottiliemulzet.bsky.social et al! This isn’t taking away from the author, it’s adding recognition of the miracle/labour/skill of translation.

No no no no. As a former social worker, I can't properly express how much I hate this. Even beyond the "automating inequality" of it all, writing case notes is an important way to reflect on a session/meeting with a client and helps you make better decisions in how you work with them in the future.

Big fan of it warm since I’ve lived in Germany - never thought to heat it when eating it before. Also with caraway seeds.

Bending the arc of AI towards the public interest
By Abeba Birhane, 18/02/2025
Following the first in Bletchley Park in 2023 and the second in Seoul in 2024, the third AI Action Summit took place in February 2025 in Paris. In the context of previous ...

If you manage(d) the Twitter account of a library, archive, or cultural institution I think you have the responsibility to ensure the long-term preservation of that corpus of information.

i genuinely try to be open about the usefulness and advantages of llms and try entertain ideas I deeply disagree with. and there’s a current trend that attempts to occupy a middle-ground position where people claims to find useful use cases while at the same time claiming to be critical

I found this ‘choices‘ idea particularly good for postgrad/executive ed./mature students. Done especially at the sharp end of the academic year with a lot of deadlines (if you can get sessions then), I found it made them move invested in the session content and best tips.

@ctmccartney.bsky.social @nedpotter.bsky.social “Model collapse“ I’ve heard it called, on the rare occasion that “bellendery“ might not be fully understood. I’ve also read that pre-2023 text data will become premium, as they should be untainted by said feasting. Downside being they are already dated
