But the good news is that the Pohlads got their stadium deal, partially funded by taxpayers, and they didn't even have to uphold their end of the bargain to keep investing real money into the team. At least the billionaires didn't have to lose out in the end.

I think risk is always priced in for both sides. It's always possible that Duran turns into a pumpkin next season, and it's possible both prospects are total busts. I just don't know how much more return could be expected for a reliever at this point.
