I had no idea it was National Squirrel Recognition Day when I got dressed to run errands. squirrel kismet.

Maggie had her check up and vaccinations. The good news is she has gained a pound. The bad news is that her shoulder is hurting from the shot and she’s limping and whimpering. Poor baby. Hoping dinner distracts her.

This is Titus. He’s a rescue who moved in about a year ago. He’s a pet hog and a snuggler. 30 pounds of lapdog strains the lap somewhat, but he’s worth a sprained lap any day.

Rummaging for watercolor paper I found a small pad that belonged to my dear departed Artist friend, Cha Davis. I was delighted to find a little landscape she had done, a tiny surprise. I replicated it, and it felt like a moment her spirit was near me. She’s left and I’m on the right.

My friend Alison sent me this photo. Seems apt for these days. Politicians get their claws on a guy who is dumb as a rock but they won’t let go, even when the claw is looped off and the situation says stop already. Patriarchy will hang onto useless rock forever. No wonder they’re crabby.

Watercolor. It’s what I started out in a very long time ago. I’ve gotten so comfy with other media I’ve neglected it. I’m lucky enough to be on a cat minding gig for friends. A week long art retreat to reintroduce myself. Not gonna lie. It’s hard, frustrating, humbling and great. Also very portable.

Slowly leaving Facebook. It’s been great to interact with friends I seldom get to see in person, sharing my art life and vintage finds. Here’s the thing, what was once a lively stroll in a park has degraded to a dodgy run through a slum filled with dead plants, weeds, garbage and strange people.

All my friends have migrated to BlueSky, I resisted but finally here I am. Just strolling through I think I’m gonna like it here. I’m a curious artist working in many materials (ooh shiny…)but right now I’m working on postcards for the resistance. I have to do something to stay sane and fight back.
