May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. If caught early, antibiotic treatment is usually effective but treatment delay can lead to long term debilitating symptoms. Prevention is better than cure, please read here!

Graphic containing the Cambridge Festival pink logo and four Fast Facts on Lyme disease. It is caused by bacteria Borrelia - the bacteria can be passed to human through the bite of an infected tick. It can cause a distinctive rash called an EM rash, but not everyone with the disease will have one. Not all ticks are the same - there are around 20 different species of tick in the UK. Bites can be missed by patients - nymph ticks (the immature stage) can be as small as a poppy seed.
If you are in or around Cambridge UK, join us at the @cambridgefestival.bsky.social family weekend on 29th and 30th March. Stop by my stand and learn some tick bite prevention techniques in #TickBitePreventionWeek. Sharing resources from @lymeresourcecentre.bsky.social @lymediseaseuk.bsky.social
