Judge McConnell basically walked them through the math, called all their arguments bullshit, and entered the order that the gov't stop playing games with the money while kids go hungry.

Didn't even give the gov't the chance to respond.

McConnell orders the government to fully fund SNAP benefits for November immediately via TRO—written order to come.

Any motion for a stay is denied. The Court will stand adjourned.

McConnell: "When you can't fix irreparable harm, you've lost the benefit of using your discretion."

Becker is getting really agitated and kind of yelling at the judge. He's still blaming the states for not getting the payments out. Says this is the first he's hearing that this has been a problem

Judge McConnell - "Nothing was done. These are the same arguments you made last time. The government did nothing to make sure the money would be paid on Wednesday."

Becker: "The gov't is making the payment through the states. That's all the gov't does." He's blaming the states for delay

Becker is arguing about the language in the order, Judge McConnell (very nicely) points to the part of the order that says "UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES" - the problems the government is bringing to him are the same ones he gave them time to straighten out."

Parks and Rec isn't a hill to die on, but one thing it gets right is this whole government thing rests on the shoulders of people you will never know, caring a lot about jobs you've never heard of, fighting challenges thrown at them from every angle just to make life a little better for everyone.
