He feels very much like the "gifted kid" or "good eldest child" that tried so hard to be teacher's pet, but is an anxious, self-loathing mess inside trying to be what everyone sees him as. It's hard to get help or for even those that care for you to see you need help when you've become good at putting on a face that makes it seem like you don't doubt yourself constantly.
To find worth in yourself when you have so long been convinced you are worthless and unwanted.

Wants to be better, but thinks he -as he is- is never ever going to be enough.
And he has friends who care for him. Who try to show him otherwise... But it's so hard to get out of your own head about these things.
