Thanks for the link! I shared my delay-free experience of commuting using running and biking on the West River Parkway trail this summer, and also mentioned seeing some long backups of cars on the parkway in the afternoons. I think biking may be quicker than driving on this route, door-to-door.

I've got a 6 mile commute from downtown as well, and find that biking is almost always faster than driving would be, if you include the walk to reasonably-priced parking for the drive.

I find these sorts of turns are particularly difficult in my front-loading cargo bike. It's probably longer than most bikes, but they do seem to be increasingly common.

Great episode! Listened to it on my cargo bike commute on Friday, which seemed like a good listening environment for it.

I contacted the Park Board about the trail on the west side of Bde last year after a friend tripped and fell on one of those bumps. They replied and said they are planning a major repair project for it, but it sounded like it will take some more time. Wish they would find a short-term fix.

Thanks for writing this article! I'm a downtown Minneapolis office worker and I've always enjoyed them. My gut feeling is that without them there would probably have been more suburban office tower sprawl?

That makes sense, thanks! I think my problem was that on an ebike I wasn't generating enough heat with the -34F wind chill, and should have turned the assistance down/off.

That's impressive biking but not surprising that you were the only one on time! What footwear did you use? My feet have been warm during my early morning runs this week, but wouldn't stay warm cargo biking into the wind this past Monday morning, even with 2 pairs of heavy socks and insulated boots.
