Agreed. Dr Steyn was saying that students aren't internalizing the information during the learning process so it's there (in their heads) when needed. He goes on to discuss why it's important for AI to be used correctly by medical practitioners, not only for learning, but during their practice.

Having #ai in the medical field is a great tool when used properly. It's much more problematic when used as a replacement for assimilating knowledge during the learning process.
