Such a powerful film directed by Sean Ellis, I found it an emotional portrayal of addiction, caring, and the pursuit of a goal regardless of the costs.
Both Orlandon Bloom & Caitriona Balfe gave extremely emotive performances, as they care for each other, but the addiction starts to tear them apart.

I usually don't see this stuff as I blocked most idiots that post stuff like this. But I just saw a few during a google search(!) - this is so far beyond any kind of fandom behavior. I really hope there's legal action being taken and soon. These people are sick and they should be made to get help.

Agreed. He is the best person to play Jill Henderson, Caitriona did him dirty. Can you imagine seeing Sam playing a woman? That would have clearly shown his acting chops to all deniers!

I honestly thought the story was going to go a completely different way ... a missed opportunity, I'd say.

They totally desperate to see their narrative crumbling and losing their sheep - so they resort to the lowest of the low . They want to stir up something, anything, just that they stay relevant. They're going to get it one day, I'm sure of it.

Same here. Though I noticed that, after the teenage years, daughters are much closer to their parents than sons. Sam is going to stay single forever if that’s a red flag for him , ha ha.

I have ALL the reservation about the church scene. I think a lot of people confuse good acting with the fact that Jamie finally is having some emotion about Claire. It has been a while.

But that's just it - it's your opinion and quite a few others. It's not mine and quite of few others . And it's totally disrespectful - to me - to diss a review that praises Caitriona and says nothing bad about Sam, just because you think they weren't into his performance as much as you were.

They did mention him. Just not strongly enough as some would want:

And , look. I believe most were put off by the "damsel in distress" line applied to Jamie. But they wouldn't bat an eye when it is applied to Claire. And yet, that's exactly what it was: Jamie finally couldn't do anything other to yell at everybody. He was a "damsel in distress".

Absolutely normal . I'm always willing to discuss why I appreciate what I do and vice versa, but only with people who can take a different pov without accusing others of various biases they themselves have 😀

I don’t agree he’s given a remarkable performance , maybe that’s the main issue. Not everyone has to agree on everything, art is subjective

He looked 10 years older , finally catching up qith Claire - but just for that scene. Watch him next episode, when he's back to his "7 years younger " face.

We can talk about it if one is open to different opinions. I agree with the opening scene, it was good gentle acting (aside from comparing Claire with his mother ). But the last scene? He had powder dripping off his face, they wanted so much to be an "award" moment.

Why are people so hung up on this? It's an opinion. There's plenty of reviews that praise Sam. Read those if you don't like this one.

One of my all time favorite series ... Cillian is great! He has a new film out now, "Small Things Like These", I saw it at a festival, highly recommend it ; I think it's already available to rent digitally. There's also the novel by Claire Keegan the film is made after.

I see some re-posts on IG but the original seems to be deleted. Anyways, I went once to the masquerade in Venice, some 10 years back, and it's a lot of fun. Though why C&S would be there, I have no clue.
