How can Tassie get back its status as a #climate leader? We have thoughts:

In other states, fixed parliamentary terms have increased the number of days between elections - but would they have the same effect in #politas' Hare Clark system?

To fix or not to fix: that is the parliamentary terms question...

Not everyone that attended the rallies was racist. But the rallies were organised by racists. The aspiring #politas candidates who chose to speak at these events should be ashamed.

Tassie says no to hate. 11am, Parliament Lawns, 31 August. Bring drums and horns to drown out the racist nonsense. Peace and love over hate and violence #politas

#politas before we lose our minds, key bits in Dr Woodruff's statement:
- Use of 'at this stage'
- Focus on no confidence 'in Dean Winter as Premier'
- Also no confidence in Liberal Gov
Signals they are:
1. Expecting a better offer from Winter
2. Considering amending the NoCo

31.07.2025 06:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A full training program would also create the opportunity for MPs to build relationships and trust across partisan lines β something thatβs crucial for a collaborative parliament.
31.07.2025 01:14 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0DID YOU KNOW: new #politas MPs only get a brief parliamentary induction. Compare this to NZ, where new MPs get 3 weeks of comprehensive training! We should be prepping MPs to work effectively and ethically with other MPs, experts, and the public.
31.07.2025 01:14 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Interesting points, thanks Liz. We have also previously written on the importance of political finance reform: www.policyinmybackyard.org/pimbys/7-pol...

06.06.2025 11:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Latest analysis from the Tas Policy Exchange team, in the midst of this crazy week... we propose a couple of the structural reforms our state needs #politas
06.06.2025 05:52 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 2Nope, the Premier will go to her for permission on Tuesday when she's back from leave. Not guaranteed she will say yes, although other options are looking less and less feasible
05.06.2025 10:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Please, in the name of David Boon, make it end
05.06.2025 05:06 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The diagram shows that some Tasmanian Government departments report to 6 or 7 ministers
As we hit the dying throes of this government, the Tas Policy Exchange team will have some new analysis out tomorrow... here's a teaser! Maybe this has something to do with our policy problems?

*Doesn't include the stadium. Greens amendment to include it was voted down.
05.06.2025 00:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If the budget is voted down it would probably be taken as no confidence in the gov, because they can't provide supply - so leader has to go to the Governor to dissolve parliament. However, I don't believe this has ever occurred at state level - @kevinbonham.bsky.social?
04.06.2025 23:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Happy doomsday fish day to all who celebrate. In news totally unrelated to apocalyptic portents, the Premier will address the media at 9.45... #politas #auspol
04.06.2025 23:46 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I dunno, I also wouldn't be surprised if the Governor says 'no election, we just had one, either you sort out a new arrangement or I will ask Labor to have a go'
04.06.2025 06:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I honestly have no idea right now... my brain is sludge from trying to watch the livestream and keep track of commentary all day!
04.06.2025 06:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 02. Rockliff goes to Governor and advises her to let Labor have a crack at forming government
3. Rockliff goes to Governor and asks for an election. Governor might well say no, we just had one. In which case back to 1 or 2
There's a few potential scenarios:
1. Rockliff resigns and the Libs replace him. New Premier might then face a no confidence motion, or Labor might give the new Premier time to turn things around
