One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it

In an obscure corner of Kazakhstan, the remains of an ocean millions of years old have created probably the most surreal landscape on earth -- as captured by photographer Daniel Kordan

similar mood: why'd we spend all this time learning about pushkin and ryazanov and pugacheva to "understand russian culture", aint nobody in russia consuming this, we shoulda just watched a bunch of anime, played HoMM IV, and practiced making GMod machina

i wanna know what onetrust sales presentations are like

extra bonus comedy ending: according to spotify, tajikistan, uzbekistan, and kyrgyzstan are all in asia, but qazaqstan is EUROPE

somewhat unsurprisingly, spotify is not available in either turkmenistan or east turkestan, so we have no idea where they're located

comedy ending: while i _was_ curious where ШАМАН would show up (given the absence of any russian cities), it seems that, thankfully, ШАМАН is not available on spotify

for bonus fun, дос мукасан's all qazaqstan (go figure), but адаптация's actually got more play outside than in, only almaty amid minsk, kyiv, warsaw, and ukraine

ялла's got no city data, which is a shame, id be curious if учкудук's cross-union appeal lives on

90s and soviet era stuff (grob, mumiy troll, kino, chaif) gets you mostly western former SSR capitals, warsaw, and sometimes germany; chaif gets the notable exception of showing up big in tel aviv

spotify city rankings for монеточка in october 2025, listing kyiv, minsk, almaty, dnipro, and lviv

hard to say, since smaller or older groups usually have the same lack of city breakdown. NRKTK's obviously not touring, but they've got nothing

for reasons im not really sure of, the one other artist that does almaty up there is монеточка

наадя's actually basically the only group this really holds for. it looks like most other groups are touring outside, and AFAIK наадя ain't (probably on account of the kid), so others have major west european cities ranked higher (riga's usually still in there though)

if only i had some 2021 data for comparison, alas

went and tried to check moremoney out of curiousity for how much it'd differ, but you can't drill down into their location stats for some reason

late at night inadvertently finding little signs of the times, наадя's big in astana, almaty, and riga nowadays!

kinda surprised minsk and kyiv beat out the major мигранты destinations but vov

the qazaq cyrillic alphabet in print and cursive

from the people that brought you the wonders of русский cursive, қазақ cursive! in addition to the usual set of indecipherable consonants, you've now got у/ү/ұ and э/ә/ө which, realistically, you won't be able to tell apart with my penmanship

does nazarbayev U use the latest latin alphabet for their courses?
