08.12.2025 16:19 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0We have an indoor air quality monitor as well (from IQAir) and it compares inside/outside. We’ve spent a lot of $ and time making our inside air safe. Replacement windows, heat pump with HEPA filtration, etc. Once you start paying attention to this stuff you realize how bad it is.

08.12.2025 14:24 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It’s been bad for 2 weeks in the Bay Area and it’s very unusual. It’s terrible in the Central Valley as usual. It’s not due to any big fires. It’s an inversion that is holding all the pollution from cars and wood burning fireplaces over us. On Saturday I drove north to the Sonoma coast to try for…

This sounded very melodious until the Steller’s Jays arrived (3) and started squawking! My Bird of the Day is just visiting, a migrant to this cloud forest on a hill in San Francisco.

30.11.2025 23:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 020 min later. It’s back to PM2.5 of zero inside, due to our system running for a bit. The monitor is near our 1927 front door, so there is a bit of leakage from outdoors. Apparently there is a weather inversion holding all the pollution down over us that would normally be blown away by winds.

It’s been like this for a week here in San Francisco. Our indoor air has a PM2.5 of 6, which is low but is usually zero due to our filtered electric heat pump system & new replacement windows. It’s bad outside. Someone’s nearby outside monitor’s at 68, but Purple Air thinks it’s much worse. So do I.

26.11.2025 23:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Recipe and her comments as posted on Kamala Harris’s Instagram account in 2020: "Kamala’s Cornbread Dressing Ingredients: 2 (8-ounce) packages of cornbread mix (I like the good, old-fashioned mix. I’m not going to do product placement here, but the name starts with a “J!”) 1 pound spicy pork sausage (I recommend hot Italian sausage) 2 onions, chopped (My husband Doug helps me wiht this part, as long as he gets to wear his onion goggles) 2 apples, cored and chopped (Don’t forget to buy local — now is a great time for California apples!) 4 celery stalks, diced 3/4 cup chicken broth (This should be home-made, if possible. The broth I make after I roast a chicken for my family is perfect for dressing, and makes great matzo ball and tortilla soup — recipes I’ll have to share with you in the future!) 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped 2 teaspoon sage 1/2 teaspoon thyme 1/2 teaspoon rosemary (Note: I grow sage, thyme, and rosemary in my backyard and use that. If you have access to fresh herbs, chop them and double the amount) Salt and pepper to taste Directions: * Bake your cornbread according to the instructions on the package. This can be done the day before. Once it’s cooled, crumble it. * Take the sausage out of its casing, crumble it, and brown it in a little oil. When it’s cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove it from the pan and set it aside. * Sauté the vegetables and apples in the remaining oil. Cooking these in the same pan not only saves water, but helps us stick to my Uncle Freddie’s rule: wash every dish immediately after you use it! * Mix that with the sausage, cornbread crumbs, melted butter, herbs, and chicken broth. * Put the mixture in a baking dish and bake at 375°F for about 40 minutes.”
Here is the recipe as VP Kamala Harris posted it on her IG back in 2020.
