Indeed! Danielle Holley & whole college have also been so good on the defense of academic freedom

Proud to be from @rephuffman.bsky.social district. Rare to have a member of Congress speak like this

This is a great opportunity for students interested in a PhD in political science in the US!

We help break down opaque parts of the application process and provide students with individualized feedback. I recommend interested students apply, especially those not coming from elite R1 universities

Kept thinking about the debate between Klein and Coates and wrote down some thoughts.

I just walked by a wall with pro-Palestine messages in Cambridge, several miles from Auchincloss's district. Two volunteers were updating it: they were the most normie-looking 60 year-old white women. I don't think these Democrats have grasped the sea change of Palestine opinion among their voters

It took me less than 5 mins to write a comment about how integral international PhD students are to scientific production, and to the US' economic and cultural power.

Please consider also leaving a comment on the devastating rule change for international PhD students:

I've also noticed that the nearby suburb of Lexington has had a notable number of pro-Palestine yard signs for the last ~year. It's a town with a lot of wealthy Democratic homeowners! That's hardly the Democratic constituency associated with the issue traditionally

You've heard me talk about it.
You've seen me write about it.
And now it's your chance to pre-order my forthcoming book Coverage Denied!

Combining survey & administrative data with extensive interviews, my book highlights the harms caused by coverage barriers. Hope you'll read it!

Thanks for these! That google doc is exactly what I was wondering about (I would also err on the side of caution with FIRE by itself, but would be great to have terminations represented in different sources)

When I watched The Sting as a teenager, I genuinely couldn't tell them apart. My confusion between them became a family joke

Is anyone systematically tracking these university punishments for speech versus those for being insufficiently "woke" over the last decade?

Extremely proud of my alma mater for this new policy. I graduated without debt as a recipient of Mount Holyoke's full-tuition merit scholarship. Every student should have the profound freedoms that come from graduating without debt, and now many more Mount Holyoke students will have that chance

Looks like a very interesting and thorough paper, that happens to also be relevant to what half of this site talks about constantly. Really looking forward to reading!

Just followed @somervilleyimby.org recs on primary candidates!

Didn't love only voting for men in a primary but housing is THE issue in local politics & policy matters a hell of a lot more to me than local descriptive representation

Vote by mail is so great. High chance I wouldn't have known when this off-year primary is without the ballot showing up at my door

I think the standard for rejecting someone’s evidence as β€œuseless” should be to provide more thorough and more accurate evidence. These incredible data are the best evidence we have! And fwiw, some coauthors and I found similar stuff when looking at tweets about β€œdefund the police”

I think it may even be true that the *perception* that this is what Dems are always talking about hurts them. But then the fact that perception and reality are so different makes it really difficult for Dems!
