I don’t think it was clear who won the debate. Both were articulate. Zack got his points across well. Adrian sounded sensible. Adrian probably favoured by the Today audience, but Zack might’ve chipped a few off in his direction

Just been to the Birtwhistle / Beethoven Prom. Both magnificent in different ways. With Birtwhistle, and its like, I think the trick is to experience it rather than trying to get it. On the other hand someone standing near me was looking at the Birtwhistle score while listening ! That’s next level

Very interesting, enjoyable and rambling (in a good way) conversation. A few times staycations were mentioned πŸ‘, but πŸ™„, the ad immediately following the pod was for BA flights to 100+ European destinations. Head hits wall emoji. Can you/acast fix this ?

The money would be good and deserved, but what I’m hearing more and more from nurses is that they’re desperate for more colleagues so that they can properly provide the service that they were employed to provide

Should do that too. (Very good interview with Zack on Novara Media yesterday). But have to get attention of MSM too

The government must start to make a difference to people’s lives or they have no chance of a second term. So far they’re only making people’s lives _more_ difficult. It’s not just about messaging anymore

I like Zack actually. I think he would improve things if he gets the job. [ I think he’s far more capable and savvy than Swinson ]

I think they’ll struggle to make a huge impact even if their policies are on point, as there is a lot of cultural baggage that comes with the name. A new left party could have more impact and momentum(😏). At that point the key thing will be how the progressives work together

05.05.2025 13:09 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

In what is now a multi party environment we need a new left party with a fairly simple tax the rich (the assets) message to also appeal to non-voters, and young. [Reform’s projected national vote yesterday was still only 30%]. Greens can’t switch enough Reform votes (it’s historic and cultural)

Government β€˜failing to support natural regeneration of trees in England’ Campaigners say targets for woodland creation are unlikely to be met because 95% of grants are for planting

More support for natural regen please! www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Guy Shrubsole: β€œTrees are perfectly capable of self-seeding: after all, they’ve been doing so for millions of years. Whilst tree planting certainly has its place, we could have far richer, more natural forests if only we properly supported farmers and landowners to let trees naturally regenerate.”

I really cannot emphasise how commonly known it is in the energy sector that gas is responsible for high bills in the UK. The reason this is not common knowledge in the public is because of political lobbying by the oil and gas industry. It is that simple.

Waiting for the geese to come in. A guest post: I go to the marsh to see the Canada geese fly in for the night, squawking and haggling within their pairs when they arrive. This evening I met, by chance, Nigel at the Bench, 2 camera…

Lovely write-up about a very good evening at Fobney Meadow, Berkshire(SU7071). Great to get the Ringed Plovers pic wp.me/pb1ro4-gA

That’s a very high bar, but they at least need to be more populist and creative (less intellectual)

For instance, they can’t let Farage be the new face of nationalising industries ?!? It’s hard, because cameras automatically gravitate to Farage, but Green leaders need to work much harder at getting attention. Zack Polanski is an asset that Greens need to make more of

22.04.2025 12:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

At the moment the policy seems to be to work locally to gradually win council seats and work on parliamentary seats from there. This is quite successful, but they need to create more of a presence on the national stage. They need a broader populist message (populism doesn’t have to be lies)
