I donβt think it was clear who won the debate. Both were articulate. Zack got his points across well. Adrian sounded sensible. Adrian probably favoured by the Today audience, but Zack mightβve chipped a few off in his direction

Just been to the Birtwhistle / Beethoven Prom. Both magnificent in different ways. With Birtwhistle, and its like, I think the trick is to experience it rather than trying to get it. On the other hand someone standing near me was looking at the Birtwhistle score while listening ! Thatβs next level

Very interesting, enjoyable and rambling (in a good way) conversation. A few times staycations were mentioned π, but π, the ad immediately following the pod was for BA flights to 100+ European destinations. Head hits wall emoji. Can you/acast fix this ?

The government must start to make a difference to peopleβs lives or they have no chance of a second term. So far theyβre only making peopleβs lives _more_ difficult. Itβs not just about messaging anymore

I think theyβll struggle to make a huge impact even if their policies are on point, as there is a lot of cultural baggage that comes with the name. A new left party could have more impact and momentum(π). At that point the key thing will be how the progressives work together
05.05.2025 13:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
In what is now a multi party environment we need a new left party with a fairly simple tax the rich (the assets) message to also appeal to non-voters, and young. [Reformβs projected national vote yesterday was still only 30%]. Greens canβt switch enough Reform votes (itβs historic and cultural)

Guy Shrubsole: βTrees are perfectly capable of self-seeding: after all, theyβve been doing so for millions of years. Whilst tree planting certainly has its place, we could have far richer, more natural forests if only we properly supported farmers and landowners to let trees naturally regenerate.β

I really cannot emphasise how commonly known it is in the energy sector that gas is responsible for high bills in the UK. The reason this is not common knowledge in the public is because of political lobbying by the oil and gas industry. It is that simple.

Thatβs a very high bar, but they at least need to be more populist and creative (less intellectual)
22.04.2025 13:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
For instance, they canβt let Farage be the new face of nationalising industries ?!? Itβs hard, because cameras automatically gravitate to Farage, but Green leaders need to work much harder at getting attention. Zack Polanski is an asset that Greens need to make more of
22.04.2025 12:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
At the moment the policy seems to be to work locally to gradually win council seats and work on parliamentary seats from there. This is quite successful, but they need to create more of a presence on the national stage. They need a broader populist message (populism doesnβt have to be lies)
