ICE Wants to Build Out a 24/7 Social Media Surveillance Team Documents show ICE plans to hire dozens of contractors to scan X, Facebook, TikTok, and other platforms to target people for deportation.

www.wired.com/story/ice-so...

ICE risks creating a parallel surveillance state. Palantir probes of non-U.S. persons can sweep in USPER data through associations with fewer guardrails blending surveillance and immigration enforcement with little oversight. That’s how authoritarian systems take root.

Researchers discuss the rise of tech authoritarianism at Social Science Matrix event | Letters & Science

β€œThe network state project is calling to β€˜reclaim’ the west. Its primary goal is to reform existing governments from within. It’s building on the model of the ethnostate to build states within states. They have an aggressive, imperialist character.”

Charlie Kirk called me a β€˜lunatic’ and a β€˜prostitute’ and demanded I be deported.

Nothing, *nothing*, justifies killing him, or robbing his kids of their dad.

We don’t know the identity or motive of the shooter but murder can *never* be the response to political disagreements.

The DNC should absolutely take this opportunity, during which the GOP is is unapologetically redistricting Texas, to enact ranked choice voting and open primaries at rhe state level.

Repubs’ redistricting disenfranchises voters. Dems would make gains by using more inclusive tactics.

When the cryptocurrency entrepreneur Eric Schiermeyer heard that President Trump was holding small group dinners with major donors, he saw opportunity.
Mr. Schiermeyer reached out to a lobbyist with connections in Mr. Trump’s orbit, who arranged for him to attend a dinner with the president at his private Mar-a-Lago club on March 1 in exchange for donations to a pro-Trump PAC called MAGA Inc. totaling $1 million.
The personal and corporate donations were among dozens of seven- and eight-figure contributions to MAGA Inc. from crypto and other interests revealed in a campaign finance filing on Thursday night that hinted at the access Mr. Trump accords those willing to pay.

Cryptocurrency interests, which have benefited from the Trump administration’s dismantling of a yearslong government crackdown and from the Trump family’s financial interest in the industry, appear to have been the most generous industry, accounting for nearly $45 million in donations to MAGA Inc.An affiliate of the exchange Crypto.com gave $10 million, while the crypto services company Blockchain.com donated $5 million. The venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, who are heavily invested in crypto, gave $3 million each. Ondo Finance, which has a partnership with the Trump family’s crypto company, donated $2.1 million to MAGA Inc., on top of $1 million to Mr. Trump’s inauguration.

The scale of Trump's pay-for-access scheme outlined by the @nytimes.com is mindblowing. Crypto contributions resulting in business deals with the Trump family crypto businesses, oil companies buying influence and later reaping benefits from friendly policies, and a $1 million pardon.

Crypto’s Dark Purpose? Gil Duran on The Sovereign Individual, Tech Politics, and Bitcoin's goal
YouTube video by The Nerd Reich with Gil Duran Crypto’s Dark Purpose? Gil Duran on The Sovereign Individual, Tech Politics, and Bitcoin's goal

In 1997, a strange book called "The Sovereign Individual" predicted that technology would kill jobs, nation-states would collapse, and billionaires would use β€œcyber currency” to escape democracy.

Peter Thiel took it seriously. Should we?

Trump threatens to revoke US citizenship of longtime critic Rosie O’Donnell The president β€” who has already sought to limit birthright citizenship for the children of some immigrants β€” has no clear authority to do so.

I for one am concerned that this could lead to broader disenfranchisement of all expatriate voters, but until that comes to pass I remain appalled at how unfit for office this man is.

Agreed. I want to believe that Dem leadership is figuring out that money isn’t everything, that they’re wising up to modern messaging and how to make an impact on a budget. Seems like it’s taking too ling to sink in though.

The Visionary of Trump 2.0 Russell Vought is advancing a radical ideological project decades in the making.

This piece from May provides essential context for the big bill the GOP just passed. To some extent, the bill is just the latest example of bad GOP policy making. It is that, but it's also part of a broader ideological project to dismantle the New Deal state.

The fact that he wasn't jailed in the 80s, then was allowed to ascend to the presidency, is a shame on America and Americans. It frames us by our failings, more aptly than any mantra of "freedom" or "liberty" ever could.
