It's not enough, it'll never be enough, but this chapter of my life does not define me.

My survival instinct is beyond powerful. At the end of the day, I'm free.

He was convicted of assault on a female, and it's a permanent conviction that cannot ever be expunged. He was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation and he has to complete both an abuser treatment program as well as a substance abuse treatment program.

Regarding the conviction & sentencing:
Because he is a first-time offender (on paper, anyway), he was offered a plea deal where they dropped the assault by strangulation felony charge as well as the misdemeanor crime of domestic violence charge.

Before I left the courtroom, the judge told me that he knows for certain that there are better days ahead for me. I know this, too. Somebody tried to kill me and I got away. I cheated death, and that makes me fucking incredible. My future is mine, and I refuse to let it be taken from me.

Today was the conviction and sentencing hearing for the brutal domestic violence I experienced at the hands of Eric Rivera. Please, please, please consider donating to my gofundme to help me close this chapter of my life for good and begin the next part of my story in a new city far away from him.
