Also, do people enjoy this? Should I do other long-winded reviews of media and/or watchalongs? I have a bunch of Classic Doctor Who stories in a tierlist if folks are interested,

-Ugh, I get that they're trying to do the Love Conquers All thing with Kyo and Tohru, but like, they just do not have the chemistry for me to not be like "Good point you two, you should move on."

Anyway, that's the end of the episode. The next one is called "Here You Are". Didn't catch who said it.

-Got some miscommunication plot brewing with Rin and Hiro which is kind of hilarious that anyone came to that conclusion, let alone anyone else buying it.
-Yuki's simp squad has moved on to bullying Machi, which I feel like should be the number one sign that these two are a real ship.

-Momiji no-scoping Tohru's plan to get a recording to Kureno is a classic. Because this is fiction, I'm sure things between him and Uo will work out, but in-universe it feels like pushing for it with the information Tohru had would just get Uo hurt.

-I like the idea that Tohru's lines actually *were* in the script and Kyo is just shook becaue he didn't read the damn thing.
-Also how the fuck does Kyo not realize that Tohru is into him. Like it's not a unique situation but how dense do you have to be?

-"This impassioned if somewhat baffling and weirdly personal speech inspired the prince." This entire thing is a trip.
-Kazuma and Hanajima have one of the most hilarious dynamics in the show. Also great that he was here in the first place.

-"I hate him with my entire being" "And so cinderella fell in love."
-What in the world is Yuki's outfit???
-Did... is any of this in the script or are they just going ham? The professional wrestling phrase "Worked Shoot" comes to mind.

Season 2, Episode 23: It's Cinderella-ish

-Looks like the whole extended cast is showing up today. Also apparently random people want to kidnap Kisa because she's too cute.
-Hana's little brother is here and he's a nightmare. Its perfect.
-This script is wild. I'm honestly struggling to riff on it.

Intermission: I've been informed Tiny German Child had a song in the original and we're now watching it.
My takeaways are:
-Tiny German Child wasn't originally german??
-The VO in the original is less bad than I expected
-Isnt that show only one season long? Why did they spend so much time on this?

Anyway, thats the end of the episode. On to the next one, entitled "Cinderella-ish" read by the Tiny German Child. I wonder how much of this we'll get to see. Sounds like it could be a fun time.

...Like, he's not a bad person, he's been through a lot and isn't handling it well. But Tohru deserves so much better and is going to need someone who can help her as compared to just being helped.
-Are they setting up Yuki to get together with Kakeru's sister? Is his type just "Deeply traumatized"?

-Oh no, Uo is in the wrong class! The other class is doing basically Charlie's Angels.
-Tohru's optimistic disappointment at Kyo not turning up is a little heartbreaking. Between that and the next scene with Yuki really made me dislike the guy yet further...

-Tohru and Hana going fully off script because she can't be mean is very funny.
-It seems like they are only now realizing that they have miscast the play, but Ayame as costume director might be able to salvage it.
-Seeing everyone react to Yuki's brother being Sephiroth Pegasus is a classic.

-...Or, it is, but typically not in that direction.
-I do find it kind of amusing they managed to maintain the Kyo rivalry but now its in more of "Mom's new boyfriend" kind of way rather than just a love triangle. Still cursed, but funny to me.

...it feels pretty obvious that this was not the initial intent. Idk, this is a mess, but I can run with it.
-Kimi has a pain kink which is...not what I would have guessed, but good for her.
-I feel like "I want to protect and not burden this person" is sort of archetypically *not* a mom thing...

-Manabe seems as confused about this whole thing as I am, which made me laugh out loud.
-Ok yeah I'm settling on Yuki just being too fucked up to understand how his feelings work.
-Either that or the writing just desperately trying to unravel this. Its not the worst thing they could have done but...

Episode 22: That Isn't What I Want

-Oh we're picking this back up right where we left off. Had kinda hoped we were moving on, but I guess its time to unpack Yuki's mommy issues with Tohru yet even more thoroughly. Maybe they'll be able to make it less uncomfortable or feel less out of the blue.

-Maybe I'm just misremembering how things went until this point, but that is not at *all* the vibe I got between those two. Gross.
-Anyway thats where they ended the episode, so I guess that's a wrap on that.

Next episode is called "That Isn't What I Want" and was read by Yuki. Honestly same, man.

-Wait are we about to get this reveal cut off by credits twice?
-Ok no, he's getting his monologue, I just knew we were nearing the end of the episode.
-Oof. So I had made my relative peace with Yuki and Tohru not being the ship this show was heading for, but "Like a mother" just feels cursed.

-So the hat of relevance was originally Kyo's, but it was Yuki who saved Tohru when she was lost and gave it to her.
-I feel like I forgot some of the rules for transformations because I don't know why he was a rat there.
-The title drop was baby Yuki, not Tohru! That's a fun twist.

-I don't know why I feel like juggling is a hilarious hobby for akito to have, but it just seemed silly.
-Oh my god, a mirror spontaneously breaking in your hands has to really do a number on a kid thinking the world hates them.
-Yuki has donned the hat of Plot Relevance and went to find the plot.

-Like obviously Kyo has been through a lot, he's understandable. But the rage and coarseness he carries has always been using that as an excuse, so to see that Yuki went through basically the same shit and came out gentle and kind... Idk, I was never a huge Kyo fan but this is 100% not helping.

-Oh, Kyo started shit between him and Yuki as a kid, I'd assumed the antagonism started in the other direction.
-...Wait Kyo was playing with the other Zodiac children too? I know this is meant to be Yuki's perspective, but wow does it really undercut a lot of sympathy Kyo had built up.

-Bigger age gap between Shigure and Akito then I thought.
-Oh! These flashbacks have actually been paint this whole time? I assumed it was just anime-censored blood.
-Does the "Zodiac God" actually have any powers or transform? Or can they only be spotted by the reaction of the other spirits.
