And like you said, it just turns every mass gathering into a potential superspreader. Itβs nuts, really.
It just keeps adding to this increasing feeling I have where nothing makes sense anymore. Weβre all just living this collective fiction. Why? So the line can keep going up for big corporations?

Agreed for sure. The big frustrating thing for me is just how aggressively everyone seems to try and pretend it doesnβt exist anymore, at a societal level.
People will get sick, not get tested, show up to work and say itβs βjust a coldβ. (Because they donβt have paid sick leave anymore)

Youβre obviously not wrong regarding the effects of covid. But I do think the fate of covid was sealed well before Biden said the pandemic was βoverβ. Businesses had already been removing a lot of their covid restrictions, and socially, many people stopped masking and couldnβt be convinced to.

I think they also conflate defund the police (which usually means take that funding and spend it on effective alternatives in most instances) with abolishing the police (which much less people are actually asking for, and even still - given their current situationβ¦might be worth doing anyways)
04.08.2025 19:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Also worth pointing out the original use of βobjectiveβ in this thread wasnβt even in reference to the quality of the campaign, but in reference to whether or not Trump is worse than Harrisβ¦which I really donβt see how you can deny.
04.08.2025 01:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
(I also donβt buy that you can measure campaign quality objectively)
04.08.2025 01:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
Did George Bush have an βobjectively betterβ campaign than Al Gore? Did Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden have βobjectively goodβ campaigns in comparison to Bernie Sanders?
I just donβt buy the premise that the result is the single objective measure of campaign quality.
04.08.2025 01:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
But if we accept the premise that winning is what determines whether a campaign is βobjectively goodβ or not, we disregard so many other factors.
Is it βobjectively a good campaignβ if the election is rigged? What if you win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote?
04.08.2025 01:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
And I disagree with the idea that itβs βobjectively betterβ just because it won.
03.08.2025 00:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Bad things can be more popular or successful than good things.

This entire thread is talking about an interview that happened on Colbert, yesterday - where your claim about what she is saying is false.

They just want every single thing automated to oblivion and ideally they'll pay 0 or maybe 1 person to just push buttons on an iPad to make the green light turn on.
Nobody actually wants this as a consumer, but executives who are allergic to the public think that's what people want.

I keep saying every company wants to be McDonalds. They want to hire literally anybody and have them be able to easily recreate the same median thing as any other employee at any other store. (No shade to McDonalds employees)
Nobody needs to be good. No product needs to be great.

I just listened to the whole interview with an ear for that sentiment explicitly because of this post.
She didnβt say that or anything close to it. The user youβre replying to is just lying.

I used to really enjoy that channel but when they covered topics I knew about, I realized they donβt really do their due diligence on researching what they say, which makes it hard to trust on any topic, personally.
