Agreed for sure. The big frustrating thing for me is just how aggressively everyone seems to try and pretend it doesn’t exist anymore, at a societal level.

You’re obviously not wrong regarding the effects of covid. But I do think the fate of covid was sealed well before Biden said the pandemic was “over”. Businesses had already been removing a lot of their covid restrictions, and socially, many people stopped masking and couldn’t be convinced to.

I think they also conflate defund the police (which usually means take that funding and spend it on effective alternatives in most instances) with abolishing the police (which much less people are actually asking for, and even still - given their current situation…might be worth doing anyways)

Also worth pointing out the original use of “objective” in this thread wasn’t even in reference to the quality of the campaign, but in reference to whether or not Trump is worse than Harris…which I really don’t see how you can deny.

(I also don’t buy that you can measure campaign quality objectively)

Did George Bush have an “objectively better” campaign than Al Gore? Did Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden have “objectively good” campaigns in comparison to Bernie Sanders?

I just don’t buy the premise that the result is the single objective measure of campaign quality.

But if we accept the premise that winning is what determines whether a campaign is “objectively good” or not, we disregard so many other factors.

Is it “objectively a good campaign” if the election is rigged? What if you win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote?

And I disagree with the idea that it’s “objectively better” just because it won.

Bad things can be more popular or successful than good things.
