If you criticize the Dems too close to an election, you are told you’re bad. If you criticize them THREE YEARS OUT, you’re still told you’re bad. So when, exactly, do we address the fact that 90% of these people are useless and need primaried?

What you arguing for here is for essentially trans people to subordinate ourselves and shut up and get in line, lest we be treated worse. Again, carrot and stick, yet we’re still being led.

I personally know otherwise progressive people who can't figure out how gender identity is separate from sexual orientation. Me and a friend saw a preview for some reality show where a trans girl had a crush on a girl and my friend was like "why didn't she stay a boy if she likes girls?"

I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

I have many issues with Russel T Davis second tenure on Doctor Who, but him making a prominent recurring character be a cool disabled woman in a wheelchair was one of his best choices.

Frankly, I wish Starfleet Academy was more “woke” in this regard. Give us a main character who is in a wheelchair, not just a background extra. But the extra is cool tho and I’m glad they’re there.

This is a great thread, but it’s just an odd to me that this conversation KEEPS happening in Trek. It happened in the 60s with Pike’s beep chair, the 80s with Geordi’s visor, in the 2010s with another background disabled extra in Discovery. Eugenics arguments really are tedious and boring.

I really don't think a lot of elected Dems understand how radicalized a lot of people like me are right now. Like the only debates about ICE and DHS I want to hear from my candidates is about who has the better plan to dismantle both and who will prosecute the ICE goons better.
