5:4, Portrait, Colour: Some more Clivia, this time the flow is from top left to bottom right. The big bunch is top left and a small raindrop sits on the end of an unopened bud on the bottom right intersection of thirds. I shot these for fun, I'm sure the novelty of Bokeh will wear off soon. I have however acquired a great respect for those who photograph #flowers well. It's some what harder than it looks. #Nikon #nz #Nature

These are Clivia apparently. M'Dear describes them as a "non-native weed"...... but #Spring in #Aotearoa. #Photograhpy #Kikorangi do I get to call them shady bu**ers?

This looks perfect, I suck at typing but M'Dear needs a replacement for her MS ergo layout keyb.

as a girl with a PhD in natural language processing and machine learning it's actually offensive to me when you say "we don't know how LLMs work so they might be conscious"

I didn't spend 10 years in mines of academia to be told ignorance is morally equal knowledge.

We know exactly how LLMs work.

I understand it's customary to share photos of #flowers in #spring Shot between showers this one caught my eye, I'm just sad M'Dear is missing this (she's in Japan). Our yard is a riot in spring and she put so much time into it over the winter. #Photography #Aotearoa #Kikorangi

3:2, #Monochrome, Portrait: A #blackandwhite #nighttime shot of a curving elevated section of motorway in #Auckland lit by tall streetlights. Light trails from passing vehicles streak across the road. Dense trees and urban buildings frame the scene, while a pedestrian path runs alongside the road. Grafton bridge has a reinforced safety screen along its length on both sides, but someone has cut some round holes in it. Lucky me. #Nikon #night #nz #urbanphotography #Auckland #Monochrome #BlackandWhite #aotearoa

So if I've followed the logic of this from the start Govt. is arguing for more exploration in the name of "Energy security" despite the resource in case being technically non-existent?

3:2. #Monochrome, Portrait: A #BlackandWhite #night time photograph of an elevated Grafton Bridge in #Auckland. Shot from the steps at the at the southeast side, looking towards Parnell, the perspective flows from left to right, capturing the curved, transparent walkway/roof. The bridge is brightly lit by overhead lamps, at regular intervals along the length of the bridge towards the vanishing point on the right, casting strong reflections and shadows. In the foreground, a decorative metal fence pointed tips, wrapped at the top in what looks like razor wire frames the lower edge of the image. You can clearly see the supporting pillars and stonework that support the bridge in lighters shades. This is a bit of a me shot with the leading lines, but yeah….. There may have been a better shot further down the steps and along an adjoining path but at that time of of night my courage failed me. #Nikon #night #nz #urban #urbanphotography #Bridges

3:2, #Monochrome, Landscape: This is a #blackandwhite #night time photograph capturing a road with bright light trails from passing vehicles, created using long exposure. The road is bordered on the right by a pedestrian walkway covered with curved, transparent canopies. Streetlamps line the centre, casting symmetrical pools of light. In the background, silhouettes of tall trees add depth and contrast. The flow is from left to right. Again the second frame in the set. #Nikon #night #nz #urban #Auckland #Monochrome #BlackandWhite #aotearoa

Grafton Bridge in #Auckland at #night. This bridge spans a deep gulley that cuts through Auckland city. In contrast to the previous photo, the bridge is largely restricted to buses, pedestrians and cyclists now. #BlueSkyArtshow #TheRoad #UrbanPhotography #BlackAndWhite #Aotearoa

Golden Ratio, Colour, Landscape: Long-exposure nighttime photograph of a highway beneath a metal gantry. The flow is from right to left. Bright yellow digital speed limit signs display β€œ60,” while a red β€œX” signals a closed lane. Red and orange light trails from passing vehicles streak horizontally across the frame, suggesting motion and speed. These light trails criss-cross with gantry metal and railings. This is one of those luck, learning moments shots, I was taking some night shots of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, it wasn’t supposed to rain but is did. Hard enough for me to seek refuge beneath an awning. Then, bored and waiting for the rain to clear I looked up… ooohhh I like that criss-cross I liked it even more when a truck passed over. This was the second shot of the set so yeah I had some luck #Nikon #nz #urbangaze #Auckland #aotearoa

#Auckland harbour bridge at #night. It's worth noting that this bridge despite being the main arterial connection between Auckland's north shore and the city is a road bridge only. No trains, no pedestrians......just cars. #BlueskyArtShow #TheRoad #UrbanPhotography #Aotearoa

More broadly I'm questioning why the "too difficult/small" argument applies to some situations and not others?

In good faith I'd point out that IRD solves these problems when determining business use. I should also point out I have worked as tax clerk and understand how these schedules work. My point remains, why can these differential decisions be made for the benefit of businesses but not consumers?

25.09.2025 07:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm not disputing that the approach has problems but somehow we have found value in differential tax rates for business expenses, tax breaks for landlords but somehow not for consumers.....
