Submitted some short stories today . . . my secret is obsessing over the last round of edits and then hitting "send" on the submission so fast I just start screaming. In case anyone wants to replicate the process.

Also my husband and I always go to La Lanterna when we are in town. I call it "romantic calzones", but they also have a literal flight of lasagnas! We also like Ippudo Ramen, which I know has a few locations now (if you go get the eggplant buns!)

When we are in the city, our fav thing is to get warm Levain cookies (the one on 77th/Amsterdam) and then walk through Central Park: enter at Strawberry Fields then down to the Bethesda Fountain to see the turtles and performers. If you want, you can walk through to the Met on the east side.

This moment was so shocking to me. What is the implication? That we are removing federal civil rights protections and its ok that some states won't do a good job??

McMahon came to ease concerns about block granting and I don't think she is accomplishing that today.

Senator Kim's emotion reflects the reality that so many of us know: we are talking about people, not numbers. Real educators, parents, students, administrators, school and district leaders. The education system is all of the dedicated people who work to teach and support our students every day.

Critical questions from the Senator: If private schools take federal money for vouchers, will they be allowed to turn away students based on disability or other protected status? McMahon is unfortunately unwilling to answer.

Linda McMahon is on the record now saying it is "not the President's plan to defund the programs" in ED, but our educators, students, and families deserve details for the many critical programs that provide support, services, and even food for children nationwide.

As McMahon begins her opening statement, it is important to reiterate that fed law prohibits ED from mandating curricula and standards. We cannot return to states what they already have and efforts to decrease services that support our most vulnerable students will harm not help our nation.
