I think they're coming from the same places sonically and what has influenced them. The thing that amazes me is that for even being so young and full of energy and ideas, is how Kai with both Sharp Pins and Lifeguard going on has written so many good songs in a short period of time.

I liked their songs a lot but seeing them live made me realize how much of an incredible band they are.

Most of the new article written about old records usually give me the impression the writer has READ a lot about the record they're revisiting rather than actually listening to it. Just rehashing what has already be written. Very rarely is there any new insight or opinion of it.

I HAVE long thought about writing a thinkpiece called "I bought the Replacements 'Tim' the day it was originally released. It was a huge letdown following the two before it."

I mean, the world needs more thinkpieces on the Replacements Tim album and Steely Dan records, right?

I ‘spose I'd get more traction with these if I wrote more about old records people have written about a thousand times before but, then again, I'm not one of those Gen X'rs that never really seeks out anything new and then bitches there's “no good music being made these days.”
