We got to Walter Rand about 10 minutes late, but that's fine. Now, time to wait for the River Line to take me back home!

10.08.2025 21:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We're stuck in a little bit of traffic, which is good, since the River Line train that I'm taking back up to Central Jersey is at 5:22. This bus is scheduled to get to Walter Rand at 4:53.
10.08.2025 20:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We've arrived at the Avandale Park & Ride. Five people got off the bus, and 2 people are getting on to go to Philadelphia.
10.08.2025 20:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We have bypassed the Farley Service Plaza. Next stop: Avandale Park & Ride in Sicklerville.
10.08.2025 20:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 015 people (including myself) got on at Atlantic City. I'm interested to see if anyone will get off before Camden or the Gloucester Premium Outlets (if we stop there).
10.08.2025 20:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Rest of the thread (I screwed up).

In my research, I found that this route is essentially a duplicate of the Atlantic City Rail Line with two park & ride stops (Avandale and Farley) along the ACRL. Farley is in the middle of the AC Expressway, while Avandale is only a 20 minute drive from the Lindenwold PATCO Station.
10.08.2025 19:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Now departing Atlantic City on the last route of the day: the 551! This route will take me up the Atlantic City Expressway back to Camden/Philadelphia.
10.08.2025 19:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Atlantic City Bus Terminal is pretty well designed for a bus terminal. It makes the Port Authority Bus Terminal look like the matrix.
10.08.2025 19:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Atlantic City Bus Terminal is located inside of the Tanger Outlets, which is a mall pretending to be a new urbanist neighborhood. Honestly, it looks pretty good.
10.08.2025 19:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We've turned onto the Atlantic City Expressway and we're on our way into Atlantic City! Man, there are a lot of billboards on this highway.
10.08.2025 19:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Big water crossing!
10.08.2025 18:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ocean View Park & Ride within the Bruce Willis Service Area in the middle of the Garden State Parkway. You can only get here using a car. We still picked up 2 people, so now there are 10 people (minus myself) headed to Atlantic City.
10.08.2025 18:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0After passing through Cape May Courthouse and picking up and dropping off a few people, we're now headed to the Garden State Parkway for an express bit to Ocean City.
10.08.2025 18:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0After passing through Cape May Courthouse and picking up and dropping off a few people, we're now headed to the Garden State Parkway for an express bit to Ocean City.
10.08.2025 18:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We're leaving Wildwood, where over half of the bus (16 including myself) boarded. Interestingly, there were already 11 people on the bus when I boarded this bus in Wildwood.
10.08.2025 18:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0After a much needed restroom break at the Wildwood Bus Terminal, I'm back on the road on the 552 to Atlantic City. This route serves as an important connection between Atlantic City and Wildwood.
10.08.2025 18:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We have made it to Cape May Courthouse, where we have picked up one person.
10.08.2025 17:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We're making our way to Cape May Courthouse through this narrow country road. We haven't picked anyone up since Woodbine.
10.08.2025 17:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0By the way, the Dollar General counter is at 5.
10.08.2025 17:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I see an old rail line!
10.08.2025 17:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We have deviated to Woodbine, where three people got off and one person got on. Getting up here felt like going into Radiator Springs (from Cars). There was a whole lot of nothing, and then suddenly, BOOM, a town.
10.08.2025 17:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0According to Transit, our next stop isn't until Woodbine at Webster Street. Makes sense, especially since Route 47 has just been surrounded by corn and agriculture.
10.08.2025 16:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Bayside State Prison, folks. No, we did not pick up any escapees.
10.08.2025 16:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On the outskirts of Millville, we've somehow picked up 2 more people. Where they came from, I have no idea.
10.08.2025 16:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We've picked up a passenger and dropped off a passenger in downtown Millville, next to all of these nice churches.
10.08.2025 16:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Two passengers have left the bus in Millville, a really built up town that is bisected by a rail line (which used to have passenger service, as far as I know).
10.08.2025 16:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We're now passing three big retail areas in Millville, Cumberland Mall and two power centers. The road (and by proxy, the bus stops) is really far from the stores (this is American suburbia, after all), so it might be worthwhile to change this route to serve at least one of these centers.
10.08.2025 16:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We've made a deviation to the gigantic Inspira Vineland Medical Center, which is the largest facility that we've served since the Walter Rand Transit Center back in Camden.
10.08.2025 16:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We've made it to Vineland Transit Center, which is located in the same plaza as a Dollar General. The two people who boarded in Clayton have left, and we've gained one person who has his hands full with stuff from Dollar General.
Dollar General counter: 3
