I'm feeling better today. Not quite all better, but better enough to finish last week's #完全変態, which was the Japanese horseshoe crab.

仕事場の駐車スペースの目の前にいい感じの枯れ木があり、モズ娘さんが毎朝とまっている。昼はいない。

エキサイトブログの記事投稿がバグっている。字を斜めにしてないのに斜めになってなおらなくて困っている。移動させたいが長年の蓄積があるからできない。困った。

昔のほうが使いやすかった。

#世界湿地の日 だ！過去1年間のフィールド（まあほぼほぼ湿地ですので…）観察の成果を誇っていい日とする！！！！

1：タゴのやばい産卵地、卵塊の海
2：ナガレヒキ幼生もりもり
3：2の場所でアカハライモリの繁殖行動
4：2025年はSHIKOKUに進出しました

これ以上濃くならないらしい。明らか色が薄い。

Bluesky gets a sneak peek. I get to join Weta workshop at their traveling exhibition Bug World in Utah! I will have a booth with my art and be speaking about the intersectionality between insects, art and science. The event is February 14th.

A quilted beetle placemat

Just regular ones!! Get a sturdy regular old machine. We got a refurbished Janome Magnolia two years ago and my husband learned to sew and has been quilting non-stop ever since. This is my placemat that he made. He has made a lot of blankets too.

Beginning with a colour photo, I wrote a code that stripped away layers based on contrast thresholds.

Then I reconstructed those layers to form these faux-hand drawn images.

It’s probably weird to say that, but I do have a lot of personal attachment to cockroaches. When I draw 1 roach, there are always another 10 more I wanna do! But there’s only so much canvas space so I had to make choices … swipe to see the species list!

Found pics of a wee (5 mm.) strange bug from last July in Arizona that I'd forgotten about. I think it's a planthopper nymph (Mebracidae?). The fringed lobes around the abdomen look almost exactly like those on an owlfly larvae (which this definitely isn't). Bugs is weird, bugs is cool. 🐙🌿 #BugSky

おはようございます、ひたすら寒いです。

部屋の床とその30センチ上で温度が違うことに気づく。
これがヤバい寒さだぜ！いやもうどうしろと。

明治時代〜昭和初期の読みもの、教科書、辞書や参考書の類を段ボールいっぱい持っていきます。この時のために昨年からコツコツ溜め込んでいたのです。100年前はこういう本で勉強していたのか、という驚きがあって面白いですよ。 #博物蚤の市3
