I will maintain to the end, that the problem was a lack of preparation and international cooperation. A lockdown could’ve worked if it was done globally. Given the incubation period, two-three weeks would’ve worked.

U.S. Deports Nine Migrants in Secret, Ignoring Legal Protections

Yeah, but politicians love to be “tougher on crime” than the other politicians.

As a child protection professional, I can tell you the death penalty is NOT an awesome solution to child sexual abuse. Most children are abused by family members; they will not report if their family members will die as a result.

They should do it on the Olympic pools, frozen over. So they have to keep doing laps, pushing off each time they get to the end.

Even “knew we would be attacked” is stretching things there. They had intelligence that Bin Laden and wanted to strike here. And if anyone had been smart enough to piece things together, there was evidence of the outlines of the attack. But no one was that good.

Sardines & tuna were staples, until I got gout 5.5 years ago. Basically that was lunch. Now never.

Crab, shrimp, and even liver were regular dinners. Naughty list now.

Often had a grapefruit half with dinner (starter or dessert), but can’t with my gout meds.

Less beef too.

But I was zero before.

Of course. He and Thomas will retire before GOP loses control of the Senate.

That’s a given. It’s will be thrilling if Democrats take charge in the Senate, but that will virtually guarantee that Trump will be filling two seats on Scotus before the changeover

For years, a cottage industry of political observers has contorted itself to obscure and occlude the obvious. That regardless of what others see in him, Trump’s entire political career — from his embrace of birtherism to his hatred of birthright citizenship — cannot be understood outside the context of his bitter, deep-seated racism.

Trump is not profound. He has been the same person this whole time. The question is why so many others have refused to see what he has never bothered to hide.

This, from @jamellebouie.net is exactly right. And I think so many folks have refused to see or admit what Trump is because admitting implicates them, or their families, so denial is easier.

The word don't is censored. Don't, or Don T. If you're looking for just some fun proof they're doing control+f censoring

You could have a subscriber sign-up page that doesn't submit and charge the subscribers until it hits some number, maybe 100,000, and then you announce the re-hires, as you start all those subscriptions.

No more click-throughs to The Washington Post.

Here's an idea: Promise to hire back EVERYBODY hte journalists and photographers -- if all the people who have unsubscribed over the last 2 years, agrees to subscribe again. Also, reverse that stupid edict about the content on the editorial page.

I like the analogy. My larger point tho, is that whatever concerns one has about “nationalized” elections, I don’t see how we can do a national popular vote w/o national standardized practices for hours, early voting and vote by mail. I would argue for registration practices. End voter suppression.

I worked on campaigns that were within 1000 and even within 100 votes on election night. There was no way to know how close they would be, but it wasn’t surprising that they were close.

04.02.2026 22:42 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

The only way this kind of fraud could happen is waiting until after election night to see which voters have voted and which ones haven’t - then submitting ballots for the latter. The problem is if they were voting by mail, the lists will not be up-to-date, as their ballot may still be in the mail.

04.02.2026 22:38 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

It’s a specious argument. We know going into election day which races will be close, though some may be slightly closer (or less close) than we realize.

If such resources and crooks exist, they are going to target those races, and not wait until after early tallies come in on election night.

04.02.2026 22:36 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

But, imagine if we went to national popular vote. All of a sudden suppressing the vote in Alabama or even Idaho could really affect who gets to be President.

Ditto for hacking elections. Why talk about hacking 50 states, when running up the score in one state might be enough to decide POTUS race?
