Youre right I'd rather hear that champagne region joke a few more times

It's also bizarre that there seems to be consistent opposition to the idea that we should simply use precise language as much as possible.

As someone who doesn't have a gaming PC, if this thing gets Half-Life 3 that might be enough for me to move on from the Playstation ecosystem.

I think that's probably true, I also think that making the argument is worthwhile.

Trump vetoes it, looks like he's trying to protect a pedophile while docs continue to leak. Will it matter? Who knows anymore. But a big chunk of his base was whipped up into a frenzy over this.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Any guesses?

The benefit of Apple TV's seemingly anemic marketing is that whenever I start watching a show I go in completely blind, which is such a treat these days.

KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business.

-if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her.
-if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet.
-instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.

And I'd rather people not resign themselves to America having lost its republic while that's still a preventable outcome.

I disagree completely with the idea that fascism doesn't constitute an ideology. In any case, precise language is a good thing and we could use more of it, not less. The free and fair elections that occurred this week are incompatible with a fascist government, full stop.

The counter argument would be that the constant use of a word like fascism before it's appropriate, for lack of a better word, is like the boy who cried wolf.

07.11.2025 03:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

I think that's correct.

By the way - no one is saying any of this is good, or that you have to like it. I certainly don't. I just agree that we're not off the cliff just yet, whatever small consolation that may be.

Calling someone a fascist, or saying that they have ideas or policies that are fascist, is different from declaring that America as a whole is a fascist country.

As a Cubs fan, once the NLDS went to five games it was clear to me that whoever stumbled, bruised and bleary-eyed, out of that slugfest was going to be picked apart by the Dodgers. Their depth is the insurmountable.

I've always been curious but have never read a single issue - is there a run you'd recommend for someone jumping into DP for the first time? Sometimes Morrison can be so heavy on lore that I hesitate to recommend his other work to newcomers.

Sometimes I have reservations about protests becoming unserious in the face of real injustices, but Frog is exactly what this moment called for.

WWII "Friend" poster series from the Allied Forces, originally demonstrating the various Allied forces (British, Australian, Chinese, French, Dutch, etc.) and their appearances

It reads:

"This man is your FRIEND

He fights for FREEDOM"

The image is a sepia/black and white toned image of the Portland Frog protester, simply labelled FROG
