"spite driven development" is the OG vibe coding

HOWEVER my extended roleplaying games group is like 25 people and 5 devs, so it seems like every other group could whip up some UNSERIOUS software for their case

19.04.2025 17:46 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

but vibe coding still requires some effort and patience

and I'm not sure most people would really want that

we ain't at the "AI-made personal software" point of history yet

Townie is great, Y.js is so foolproof u can have a json blob per entity u handle schema changes over time with runtime types

(funnily, Claude removes Zod's validations, but not @arktype.io xD)

I should have probably copied the styles or use CSS layers, but bear-fit is so small that `!important` was good enough

19.04.2025 17:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

i started it with val.town Townie and later ejected
to #Y.js and #PartyKit bcs the AI started misbehaving and I wanted a multiplayer β€” couldn't get Townie to set up SSE

used @sakofchit's sakofchit.github.io/system.css/ to avoid fixating on UI and so the users don't treat this too seriously

sometimes I just want a simple tool

just use it and forget about it software

not a product, not a B2B SaaS, but also not sb's magnum opus and part of the chosen toolset that defines you

I hope bear-fit can be like that for you.

19.04.2025 17:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

your favorite software is probably Good and Complex

some other software you're using is Ass and Complex, like Jira and Zoom's frontend (backend and video quality is legit tho)

but what if we had something Simultaneously Ass and Complex

SAaS. let that sink in

19.04.2025 17:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

i think we could use some more simple software

don't get me wrong, i *identify* as Obsidian and Linear user. i love the craft, the keyboard shortcuts, the performance

but not all software has to be like that... let's call it Good and Complex software, High Effort Software

Crab Fit Enter your availability to find a time that works for everyone!

I needed it to be super simple and low effort

like crab.fit, but even simpler β€” w/o hours, bcs my friend's big paws are too clumsy for that and I don't have knowledge at this level of detail weeks/months in the future

ty for the inspiration Ben <3
