Not necessarily related to Canada, but first time I went to Ireland, in 2015, eating the food was a huge adjustment, even though it wasn't bad. It just wasn't as filling. I hadn't been out of the country since I was in MX in 2009. I'd suspect Canadian food is closer to that of Europe.
