Two side by side images of my standing groundhog with shadow thermochromic print on 12โ x 12โ white washi paper. The groundhog stands on its hind legs. Itโs brown with black paws. On the left the shadows is colourless but on the right it is blue, because the print on the left has been heated above 30ยฐC
Happy Groundhog Day! I am a fan of the absurdity of weather prognosticating rodents and celebrate Groundhog Day with my thermochromic linocut. The shadow is visible if the ambient temperature is <30ยฐC and disappears when >30ยฐC (and itโs a safe bet winter is over or you are overheating your home). ๐งต

To see how Kirsty Duncan advocated for science, watch her TED talk or read her book, "The Exclusion Effect: How the sciences discourage women & girls and what to do about it"
Scientists must be free to learn, to speak, and to challenge, she said -- an even more vital argument now than then.

Former Liberal cabinet minister Kirsty Duncan dead at 59 | CBC News
Former Liberal cabinet minister Kirsty Duncan has died at the age of 59 following a years-long battle with cancer.
The world has lost one of its most courageous and passionate advocates for people + science.
Back in the days of Twitter, I saw her regularly send encouragement to people sheโd never met. That was who she was: a model of joy, perseverance, courage, and kindness.
Kirsty, you will be so missed. ๐
