I assume by "stencil support" he means they've added stencil buffers to the shaders. Similar to the z-buffer, you can access this within shaders to accomplish certain visual effects. The main use is as a stencil mask (in his video, it's masking the room to the frame) hence the name.

The fact that it didn't already support stencil shaders feels odd, but the fact that it does now is good!
