Millions of people are harmed by the gambling industry every year in the UK. The Coalition to End Gambling Ads is a campaign to stop gambling being promoted.
Promoting gambling promotes harm!
23.06.2025 12:44 โ ๐ 23 ๐ 12 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0'Harm from gambling is not inevitable - it is preventable.'
As a start how about:
1๏ธโฃConstrain the addictive products
2๏ธโฃEnd gambling advertising
3๏ธโฃShield policy makers from gambling lobbyists

I reacted to BBC File on 4's investigation into the failure of gambling venues to protect customers - which won't be a surprise to anyone except apparently the Government and the Regulator.
18.06.2025 09:56 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Government policy is to grow the gambling industry.
That means more addiction and more suicide.
Time for a rethink.

'Itโs a sorry indictment of football authorities that players like Paqueta get read the riot act for gambling offences whilst his club is enabled to promote dangerous gambling products to fans.'

Another European Country considering ending all gambling ads. ๐๐๐
It's time for UK policy makers to catch up.
A CEGA investigation has found Premier League clubs Leicester, Wolves & newly-promoted Burnley are advertising unlicensed gambling sites that accept UK customers.
These clubs are thumbing their noses at the Gambling Commission & letting down their fans.

We're sponsoring a session on gambling and public health at @thefabians.bsky.social Health and Care Mission Summit.
Gambling harm must be understood first as a health harm. Fantastic that this will be discussed today with @annieashton2705.bsky.social

The time is now for @sadiqkhanlondon.bsky.social to act on gambling ads.
Bereaved families have urged him to come good on his 2021 pledge take the ads off London transport.

Hats off to @carolinerussell.bsky.social for continuing to push the Mayor of London to do the right thing on gambling ads.
We can't wait for central government to opine on this topic. We need local leaders up and down the country to demand change.
What is going on? Everton and Leicester City continue to advertise unlicensed gambling sites despite the Gambling Commissioning threatening prosecution that could result in imprisonment for officers of the clubs.
CEGA's investigation reported in The Athletic.

2โฃWill Everton continue to be allowed to promote Stake?
3โฃWill the Gambling Commission bring prosecutions

Today my colleagues & I sent a letter of concern to the minister for gambling. The evidence shows clearly that the gambling industry is a vector of harm, not a partner. We urge the government to change their position. www.bmj.com/content/388/...

Great news that #Sheffield City Council have introduced a Gambling Harms Prevention Strategy including a clear understanding of the harmful impact of advertising & marketing - a national ban on all gambling ads would really support this

The secrecy of special measures that allows operators, like Betfair, to avoid regulatory action is completely inadequate and allows for deaths to occur. I have now launched a judical review claim to challange the GC's decision not to investigate Betfair.

In shock news, gambling industry use same strategy as tobacco industry
This excellent analysis sets out how this happens and why that matters
Global coverage of the Gambling Commission's investigation of Stake after our complaint. Big Q's remain:
1โฃ Why are dodgy Gambling Co's allowed to operate in GB without their own licence?
2โฃWill the regulator let them get off without sanctions?
3โฃWill @DCMS get control to protect children?
BREAKING: Following our complaint about illegal marketing, the notorious multi-national gambling operator STAKE will be leaving the UK market.
Good riddance. But this will do little to change a system that facilitates predatory gambling ads.

Do you monitor what they see while they are playing? Perhaps you should. My latest investigation.
