I've followed SpaceX since the earliest days, when I knew the core people and they really were amazing innovators who revolutionized launch. My view: the million figure was for impact. It isn't needed or feasible. It'll be cut several times in subsequent filings and tradeoffs, starting soon.

I can't understand that. Everything from an author should read like it's from that author. I've certainly not heard advice like that from an agent. Why would you? An editor knows what AI writing looks like.

Knockers were one of several similar legends I combined into one real-life creature in last year's cryptozoological horror novel Death by Legend. Moral: if you're going to illegally import an entire dolmen from England for your private museum, you'd be wise to sift through the dirt.

I'll grant that was off the cuff. It's the way my own thinking often works.

Don't these all essentially default to truth-seeking? That Earth orbits the sun is a truth long ago worked out. The reason it orbits there is another truth we now know. The reasons that orbit works, based on composition, density, and origins of Earth and sun, is a collection of truths, and so on.

Do you think the PEN/ALA standard of calling every restriction a ban is too broad? It seems to me it could soreadc media attention and other resources through too many different cases rather than focus on the actual bans.

I read a bunch of these and took two shots at writing them, but the editors didn't think I ever got the tone right. They are still fun.

Weird thought: I feel sad for the people who've jumped into publishing books trying to make a career that's all AI-based. Some will make money. None will ever know the complex, frustrating, triumphant joy of going from blank page all the way through to finishing a good book.

That is likely a bigger problem in the US (it's been 15 years since I studied health care). Military care was more team-focused. Now that we have endless branching of specialists, teaming has to get smoother. some (orthos, neuros, pain docs, psych) seem to prefer small groups of their own specialty.

Agreed. Congratulations on your book! I'm sure most laypeople, like myself, have never heard of this breakthrough. The challenge in trans is that insurers may spread you over different practices: it takes time to reorganize.

I can't grasp the idea this guy will win a Presidential election. He has a chance with AOC, who has top media skills but no major accomplishments yet, but Shapiro, Kelly, Whitmer, etc would bury him. Of course I thought he'd lose DT the last election.

I spoke too quickly and too broadly: I looked more and I see your point. (I also see Mark trying to weasel before Congress about how he broke every promise to date AGAIN.) It they cheat again, the average user has no recourse other than class action. So I'm still concerned.

It's relevant that there's a bloc that would not vote for a woman (that's why it would have been so interesting to see Condi Rice run). So it matters. It does not mean a woman can't win. It means she will have a hard time. (And that a House member whole sole qualification is media skill will lose.)

Not surprised. I have an annoying number of conditions and a PCP I liked for 23 years: the succession of MDs I thought competent but never got to know meant there was no one person coordinating meds and specialists. I think that contributed to a drop in overall health, though I Iike the current team

Mr Musk often overstates his goals for headlines. He doesn't need (and even he can't fund) a constellation that size. I think we will see several restatements. But it will be huge, and he would be wise to fund recovery methods if he wants post-DT regulators to sign off.

Masons, when they start upon a building,
Are careful to test out the scaffolding;

Make sure that planks won’t slip at busy points,
Secure all ladders, tighten bolted joints.

And yet all this comes down when the job’s done
Showing off walls of sure and solid stone.

So if, my dear, there sometimes seem to be
Old bridges breaking between you and me

Never fear. We may let the scaffolds fall
Confident that we have built our wall.

We've all heard testimony in Congress about how soc media companies have NOT followed stated policies or even contracts - which the ToS language signed up to by the general using public allows them to change at will. Not to mention use in ways besides training.

It reduces personal writing signatures, but considering you're giving it to a program you know will permanently keep a copy for Microsoft or whoever to train off and do anything else they want, I think the privacy effect is a net loss.

Pretty clearly the Russians put them in the most dangerous operations. NK troops are not good at adaptation and taking initiative, but are tough and disciplined. I wonder how much truth exists in reports that discipline broke down when Russian troops showed them internet and porn for the first time.

Superb book. Made the common error of ascribing "Goldstone has the bird" to Explorer 1 and connected Challenger's launch to the State of the Union while offering no evidence: otherwise the best single volume on the Space Age. Everyone should have one.
