โ€œThe President of the United States just overthrew a foreign ruler and explained to the American people that this is about taking control of the oil reserves of a foreign nation. He said that the U.S. will โ€œrun the countryโ€ until a proper transition can take place and went right into how U.S. oil companies will benefit from this takeover. He doesnโ€™t understand the risks and costs involved with these poorly thought-out decisions that donโ€™t make Americans any safer today than they were yesterday.

โ€œNicolรกs Maduro is a brutal, illegitimate dictator who deserves to face justice. I want the people of Venezuela to be free to choose their own future, but if we learned anything from the Iraq war, itโ€™s that dropping bombs or toppling a leader doesnโ€™t guarantee democracy, stability, or make Americans safer. More often, it leads to chaos or drags the U.S. into a war and lengthy occupation. I donโ€™t trust that this administration has a plan, timeline, or price tag for what comes next.

โ€œOver the past year, Trumpโ€™s foreign policy has been reckless, chaotic, self-serving, and unconstitutional. While I donโ€™t agree with the administrationโ€™s justification for this, Iโ€™m thankful that no service members were killed or seriously injured.โ€

Mark Kelly puts out a statement saying "The President of the United States just overthrew a foreign ruler and explained to the American people that this is about taking control of the oil reserves of a foreign nation." This is probably the strongest statement alongside Gallego's I've read.

EPA eliminates research and development office, begins layoffs The Environmental Protection Agency said Friday it is eliminating its research and development arm and reducing agency staff by thousands of employees.

The EPA has eliminated its research division, which for decades has provided the science behind regulations on clean air, clean water, and toxic chemicals.

The US can afford to monitor, research, and regulate the impacts of industries on human and environmental health. We are just choosing not to.

Trump makes sweeping move to undercut state climate laws, including California's 'These State laws and policies are fundamentally irreconcilable with my Administration's objective to unleash American energy,' the president wrote. 'They should not stand.'

Another garbage, unconstitutional executive order from the President. Now he claims that states can't set their own environmental laws, like California's carbon trading program, which by the way, has existed since... 2006.

What if the Government later determines that it sent one
of these detainees to CECOT in error? Or a court eventually decides that the President lacked authority under the
Alien Enemies Act to declare that Tren de Aragua is perpetrating or attempting an โ€œinvasionโ€ against the territory of
the United States? The Government takes the position
that, even when it makes a mistake, it cannot retrieve individuals from the Salvadoran prisons to which it has sent
them. See Defendantโ€™s Memorandum of Law in Opposition
in Abrego Garcia v. Noem, No. 25โ€“cvโ€“951 (D Md., Mar. 31,
2025), ECF Doc. 11, at 7โ€“9. The implication of the Governmentโ€™s position is that not only noncitizens but also United
States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto
planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity
for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before removal. History is no stranger to such lawless regimes, but
this Nationโ€™s system of laws is designed to prevent, not enable, their rise.

People will say this is the result of a presidential election, and thatโ€™s partly true. But the Constitution does not delegate tariff power to the president, and he is only able to impose these ruinous, peace-destroying taxes because Congress has let him do so. Congress can end this at any time.
