We live in interesting times. The danger isn't the apocalypse or nuclear war, its the manipulation of the truth, censorship and the editing of history.

The important thing is holding onto the art, media, and culture of now and the past as best you can, in any way you can. Store what you truly love on physical media. I’ll discuss some methods of storing your "digital" physical media and using them to replace streaming and such tomorrow.

Some experiences can only be captured by you. They’re deeply personal. If you can, journal. If you can make art, do it—paint, write, compose acid jazz (even if its bad), ANYTHING, whatever helps you hold that moment in your soul. Share it when and how you can. Tell your friends. Relive it.

Not all media can be preserved this way. Stage shows, live performances, and experiences are harder to capture. Record them if you can and it is ethical to do so; find scripts or programs if not. Or keep the spirit alive—join local theatre, perform, or make art, no matter your skill level.

How do we preserve our media? Physical formats like books, tapes, and DVDs are classics, but not always practical for everyone. DRM-free downloads (whatever method you prefer ;) I’m not judging!) are a solid option, especially if you’re short on space or already have a library (cnt) #resist

With AI evolving and being adopted by big corporations for far more than just spell-checking and chat, and as we witness the ongoing decline of the open internet, now is the perfect time to embrace physical media—or perhaps raise the skull and crossbones. ☠️
