Portland to pay $3.75 million settlement to family of man killed in 2022 police shooting Immanueal Clark, 30, was shot and killed as he ran from Portland police officers who had approached his car.

"Sathoff told [IA detective] Rovinelli he saw Clark reach into his pocket... But Rovinelli wrote there was no evidence to support Clark was going to stop running away from officers or engage them."

Chief Day and Mayor Wheeler didn't discipline Sathoff.

Clark County sheriff’s deputy fatally shoots man in Uptown Village in Vancouver A Clark County sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man who reportedly had a gun Wednesday night in Vancouver’s Uptown Village.

By far the law enforcement agency in the Portland area which uses the most lethal force per capita is the Clark County Sheriff's Department.

The lesson of today is, for a mental health crisis in Portland, unless there’s a crime being committed, don’t call 911. Call the Multnomah Crisis Line 503-988-4888 24/7 and request Project Respond.

Judge starts taking public testimony. Big variation in the community’s understanding of the ideals of accountability and trust from the parties, the court monitor, or Judge Simon. Some confusion relayed, some hubris, some ignorance.

The only question about the pardon is when will the deal be announced.

A contemporary indulgence. A right of kings.

The death of Damon Lamarr Johnson is nothing short of a preventable tragedy. This requires a full investigation.

In 2026 the Police Union contract is up for re-negotiation. We will need community to be fully engaged so that we can hold our police accountable if they've been found guilty.

The Mental Health Alliance has demanded the city produce an independent investigation into what happened to Johnson, and why 911 sent cops at all.

So far everyone in city hall has read the letter. And no one has responded.
