That said, this is not a seismic shift, and I am 0/2 on predicting conclaves so far. Tagle and Parolin are still among the top contenders, probably in that order, and a surprise is still reasonably likely, as is always the case with modern conclaves.

Cardinal Zuppi is also from Rome itself, which may be a larger factor when the Cardinals have their hackles raised against outside intervention.

The real clincher tied to the Trump self-insert is the Cardinals tend to react to such very negatively, making a relative moderate safe bet like Parolin perhaps less appealing than an option that would send a strong message.

Parolin's star was already falling because he has not demonstrated Francis' ability to woo the media.

With Trump's self-insert, I now consider Cardinal Zuppi the most likely Papabili, with Tagle a close second.

Ok, Popeular History is on hiatus until I can figure out how work/life balance works with my new work/life. All good things, it's just my time off used to largely be when the kids were busy at school or whatever and now that I can have more family time I'm going to sieze that.

Due to a number of factors, the release schedule for Popeular History and Cardinal Numbers is going to be quite fuzzy until Spring when we can properly kick the kids out to go play outside again. I will get you as many of the new Cardinals as I can before the 12/7 consistory.

Cold's been hitting me pretty good this week so Cardinal Numbers is postponed, plan is a twofer next Sunday. Theoretically hoping to get a backlog built up to avoid such turns of fate in the next few monthy, but then again I've been trying for a podcast backlog for four years, so...

Episode planned for November is looking like first half of December.
I'm already on hiatus so this is par for the course and I don't want to clutter my feed with putting a notice out in bad quality audio form like I used to, but I figured I could go ahead and send this message out across channels.
