It has "foreign policy implications" and is a government act so it's "irreparable harm"? I know that's what their line has been, but a measure of a standard is the various absurdities it creates. Surely the idea that a relative handful of gender labels irreparably harm the gov is such an absurdity.

That's the kind of thing that it's important for someone in a position of power to say regardless of how obvious it is to everyone. Never get tired of more people saying the obviously true thing. It has special impact when certain people say it.

I didn't like when Trump purported to moderate. It's not clear to me why "people with access to loud megaphones" would want to praise a specific person because they use a strategy without regard to whether or not they approve of the person.

And while I'm making a wish list, let's including having accountability positions actually staffed again so records of "Joined after the Kavanaugh stop became legal policy" can be parsed for the specific "Shot protestors in the head for the lolz" who cannot NOT be drop kicked out.

My concrete policy suggestion for this problem would be to make the goons go through proper law enforcement training before reassigning them. I'd just as soon drop kick groyper-recruitment-era ICE recruits back to wherever they came from (see, I can say it too), but that's probably unlikely.

Whatever happened at a policy level, that big angry crowd in 2020 was right that there was and is racial inequality in law enforcement. Switching all the ICE goons over to explicit drug enforcement because it supposedly has immigrant valence will make that worse. Again, that's why they joined
