‘Is university still worth it?’ is the wrong question The graduate earnings premium isn’t really measuring what most people think

Turns out (says @jburnmurdoch.ft.com) it's not so much an oversupply of graduates in the UK (the same would be true of other similar countries but it's not) as an undersupply of the kind of jobs that a better-performing, more productive economy would supply.

I am 63 and angry at the way the young people have been shafted. How can it be fair that my niece has £40k of debt from her degree while I, when I finished in 1984, had a bank overdraft of £70? The politicians who did this to them also got to study for free.

In Berlin it's honesty based but......if you are caught fare dodging in one of the on train checks, they come down on you like the proverbial ton of bricks. I have seen people caught and hauled off trains. I wouldn't recommend trying it!
