I don’t think it was naive at all. That makes it sound like she can’t help herself. She knows exactly what she’s doing. She’s long been maneuvering the political game the way she wants to.

Elaborate? I think of her as wielding way more power over the state of Minnesota as a bad governor than as a bad senator.

Why opinion? It sounds like good investigative reporting and follow-up.

Kinda interesting: An immigration lawyer with Obama-era DHS ties told me that in recent decades, each president tries to outdo the previous president by deporting higher numbers of people in their first year. They one-up each other. Horrible. If we get through this, maybe that’ll finally shift.

It’s worth specifically noting (bc some don’t know) that Obama’s handling of immigration was strikingly but quietly inhumane, hence lefty criticism. His administration introduced family-separation tactics and intentionally devastated the lives of thousands of children. Mostly to please Republicans.

That’s a fantasy statistic that lives in your head and is easy to correct via a quick search online. But dream on.
