I say NO to fidget spinners, but have had success with squishy cubes (generally quiet and don't roll around) and marble fidgets. I'm also very selective about who can have a fidget and when, which bothers some students (why does he get it and I don't), but it usually works out.

My 3rd and 4th grade summer school kids are super excited about harvesting in the school garden and taking home produce. So glad that my school and community support the garden program!

Last day of school is 6/12, so we've reached the point where I'm starting then and planning backwards.

Last week I took Mothers' Day weekend and mostly did what I wanted to do: hiking, buying and planting plants, reading. It felt great! And then Monday hit and I was Not Ready. So...today I'm going to finish my lesson planning and prep for Monday.

Oh, and now I have to spend after-school time writing referrals and contacting parents.

Additional students started sword fighting, despite that being one of the specific non-examples. Only two students actually measured plants. So frustrating! We came back inside early because most couldn't handle the activity.

Took students into garden to measure plants today. Went over expectations and non-examples for carrying and using meter sticks. Went over what to measure and write down. Took away one meter stick before we even started.

...then I had to use some of it today because I had issues with both the copier and the laminator! Plus I need to do some cleanup and...I'm just done. 😞

I am so burned out on behavior issues right now. Including serious issues. I actually have a day off tomorrow, but I don't know that I can muster the energy to be ready for a sub! I had everything planned and mostly ready but...

We're almost done with state testing! Wheeeeeeeee!

I was SUPPOSED to be creating and sending my class newsletter but I got to the Learning Snapshot part and instead of just putting in something general about our social studies topic I went and created a whole lesson?

This year I've managed to incorporate Fortnite, Minecraft, and fishing.

It's also that day I hope you HAVEN'T experienced where you go on a field trip that's been scheduled for a couple of months and it turns out the event host changed the date and forgot to tell you.
