CANMORE is going - much to the dismay of many - and here is a tribute to its incredible,
far-reaching contribution.

CANMORE is part of our heritage and it’s loss will have lingering effects.

Pleased with my first artifact #photogrammetry model - a "c'önc' " or "füsèla" used to secure bundles of hay and the like ( threading a thin rope through the holes and twisting/wrapping it around the elongated bit). Done with Polycam as I am learning how to use it for community heritage purposes.

Thank you so much for this thread! Does anybody know where we can raise concerns (aside from the Trove feedback questionnaire)? I'm all in favour of a platforms which are more useable by the general public and more visually accessible, but we still need Canmore too!

This is an important thread - I haven't used Trove yet but I use several of these functions on Canmore and, boy, I'll miss them!

A really important thread. Users of #Canmore arise and protest!

An interesting (and very worrying) thread for those of us who rely on Canmore for our research - I thought Trove was going to be just one more resource, rather than replacing Canmore ://

Look, it's one of my favourite swords of all times, mostly because a dear friend noted, during a uni study sesh, that handle and pommel kinda look like a mushroom. No words were added to my essay that day, but I do have a wee colourful sketch of a mushroom-hilted sword somewhere still.

One last thing - it's not all or nothing, it's not about perfection. It's about starting with little steps here and there - mask on if the bus is packed, don't go socialising if you're ill, avoid high-risk activities before interacting with the most vulnerable, etc.

Yep! Or "just hormones", or "just anxiety" *chirping intensifies *

So, to end this long ramble- if you cared on Sunday, it would be lovely if you wore a mask on transport, at healthcare facilities, in shops. If you could check in on your friends who have been more silent lately, less energetic. Small things go a long way in reopening the world up, this time safely.

I am very lucky to still be able to do most of what I love, albeit with adjustments and more slowly, but so many other cannot and use the little energy they can spare to advocate for better collective care and more research. So many see their social and personal lives drifting away entirely.

You see the dig pictures and the field trips, not the afternoons spent researching words to use to express myself clearly at the GP in the hope of getting some answers. You don't see the social strain on relationships coming from not feeling safe socialising and networking like everyone else.

I speak as a lucky one, really - I got off with mild and somewhat fluctuating fatigue/inflammation flares. What you don't see are the days spent counting my aches lying on the sofa after I overdo it, the uncertainties and flexible planning when I think about what career would be sustainable, (...)

I know the official line is now one of accepting reinfection at the norm, and I don't blame people for not keeping on top of the science because it is exhausting, hard, and you are constantly told by those in power that it is alright, really. But. If you cared on Sunday, please care everyday too.

Apparently Sunday was Covid day of reflection in the UK, and I would love if those who reposted stuff on the mental health impact of lockdowns would spare a thought for all the chronically ill, immunosuppressed, or otherwise vulnerable people for whom these impacts are very much still not over.

Fingers crossed for a swift and full recovery - the spikey beast is indeed an actual nightmare for immunity response, and yet it's mostly crickets sounds when this gets brought up, *sigh *

It's been a very hectic February, so here's a belated post from SSASC 2025 in Edinburgh, chatting all things gannets, Guga and Gaelic to my fellow student attendees.
My poster also got a prize which was a nice surprise considering how early stages my research project it.
