that’s basically what it’s like, dealing with something acute atop the usual chronic.

that’s not even considering in-community predation. it’s so hard to empower ourselves & each other, for real & in lasting ways, when we carry this internalized push to break each other down because we’re afraid someone else has something we’re entitled to & have lost. external threat gets ported in.

thinking about the inherent betrayal that is in-community bullying: peer sabotage, lateral ableism, tr@ns gatekeeping, & how it can’t always be stopped at point of contact. how much of living in vulnerable populations is damage control from harm we inflict on one another. how insidious it all is.

lately seeing once again that the way i can be of most help is on an intimate scale, person to person, not so much in larger contexts—yet that intimate benefit actually ripples out far more widely & on more levels than i was aware of. i have been spreading myself too thin by adding “broad” efforts.
