How is your Lenten journey so far? I obtained Bishop Barron's Word On Fire' "Lenten Gospel Reflections" and it is fantastic. Our parish gave out "Living Well Through Lent 2025" and it's nice but not as great as the Word On Fire publication.

I'd let any politician be king or queen if they'd abolish daylight savings time. That is a hill I'd die on.

Got around to completing my first goal for Lent. My devotional space is complete, though I am thinking of getting a kneeler.

When I asked veteran strategist David Axelrod whether Democrats were “walking into a trap” on defending foreign aid, he literally finished my sentence. “My heart is with the people out on the street outside USAID, but my head tells me: ‘Man, Trump will be well satisfied to have this fight,’” he said. “When you talk about cuts, the first thing people say is: Cut foreign aid.” Rahm Emanuel — the former House leader, Chicago mayor and diplomat — told me much the same: “You don’t fight every fight. You don’t swing at every pitch. And my view is — while I care about the USAID as a former ambassador — that’s not the hill I’m going to die on,” he said.

Very serious Democratic strategists advise the party to allow Trump to illegally dismantle USAID -- a decision that will result in the unnecessary deaths of people around the world.

it really does warm my heart every time we North Americans act like real neighbors to each other. seeing Mexico and Canada rush in to help California is beautiful. speaks to the best in us. don't forget that in the days to come.

I had a couple folks approach me about standing for Vestry. If you are or have been a member of vestry, may I ask you to share your experience?

I have IC XC NIKA (Jesus Christ conquers) on my car. It could be interpreted to mean military conquest, like the crusades. But understood in the terms of what Jesus spoke it is to be understood that love conquers all. I serve my king by loving his children. If we do that we change the world.

A damp Autumn day

To describe their height. I'm Trans supportive but Trans woman means not biologically a woman but culturally one.

I've worked on campaigns since college and have always been furious with advisors that are given airtime to explain away their losses after not listening to the organizers on the ground that tell them something is wrong with the data or with the messaging. We must change the way we DO politics.

So true, and like you I've worked in campaigns since my late teens. We were knocking on doors and talking to people while the campaign used polling to paint a rosie narrative of success to bring in donations. The $ seemed to matter more than winning sometimes.

It was incredibly powerful and healing. The priest is a lesbian who showered me with love and prayer during a time I was in a major depressive episode, between the job content and losing a friend. That stuck with me and today I'm an Episcopalian. Women are powerful leaders.

I was Orthodox but overseeing the planning of my friends funeral Mass after his suicide at an Episcopal cathedral. All of these hurting people; friends, co-workers, and strangers approached for the Eucharist. I felt in that moment it was important to be with them and worry less about the rules.

This makes me so sad. We have to do better for our indigenous youth. They face such extraordinary challenges, challenges most Americans can't even imagine.

A beautiful drive through Trinity County. We saw high winds, rain, and snow. The Trinity Alps are visible in the background of the last photo. We saw a total of 28 blacktail deer. The last being a beautiful buck right in the middle of the highway.

What a sweet face. I bet she's the goodest good girl.

I hated how they were treated, especially his son's emotional episode at the DNC and Tim's military service. I do not like what our country has become.

I like them both. Rite I language is more poetic and that tugs at my heart.

Last weekend my daughter and I attended Cursillo. I grew up in a loving church community, my daughter did not and has some trauma from the church she was raised in. Her Cursillo experience and experience in TEC has really changed her outlook on people.

For my inaugural post I'd like to ask if you have any Advent (aka Little Lent) traditions particularly close to your heart? For me it is mostly increased reading of Incarnational theology and Advent devotional readings. Today begins Advent in the Eastern Church.
