Might be dating myself, but this post immediately reminded me of an illustration from CARtoon magazine from back in my youth.

Remember, the deal was that an American company needed to buy TikTok to avoid the ban. Once sold, I'm sure Congress would treat it as they treat any other social media site. That the owners would rather TikTok be banned than sell, is evidence it's intended to be more than just a business.
