"Keeping an eye out" - Watercolor, old painting....this was my first sheep Abigail. I ended up with a think twelve sheep....lost a couple to coyotes until I got two mini donkeys from a friend. I never lost a sheep again.

“America under water"

"Seeing myself in you" - Watercolor on paper....old painting of an image of a friend who was fly fishing for Albacore. I pointed out that his reflection is in the shine of the fishes skin. Again this was a lesson in painting what you see and not what you think you see.

“Tulips in the trees” - old watercolor on aquabord. These flowers bloom in the trees here. ...really amazing colors and shapes. I ended up scratching this painting and ruining it but was a fun journey.

“Circus dog” - watercolor on paper. This painting was a commission but they only wanted a half sheet not a full sheet. I redid the piece for them and rather than throw this out I turned it into something else. I’m glad I didn’t like this painting.

Pet portraits heading to their home. This is Scott the head of AIDSHELP or now called AH Monroe. Nobody likes the word AIDS. It’s spooky and scary but it is still here and they do their best to educate people about it, fundraisers, housing, financial help, food….everything for that little island.

“Heading South”

“Clamoring vines” - This was a test in patience !!!!! It looked like a Hawaiian shirt for a while and I put it away. Picked back up one day and kept going. This was a big pot in my garden in VT. The morning glories were from the season before and let them keep going.

“The Hunter gatherer “ - watercolor for show “Living at the end of the world “ ….Based on “Lord of the flies “ but they don’t get rescued and become a tribe of peaceful men. I needed to change the narrative,but realized the original version is closer to the truth.

“Old man look at my life” - watercolor collage with stained pages from Ernest Hemingway’s “Old man and the Sea” . His house was a few houses down from my studio….also one of my favorite books. Really shines a light on the cruelty of life and people, but also the endurance of a man.

"What boys dream of" - Old watercolor I did years ago. I paid a model to sit in a beat up boat at the end of Simonton dock in Key West. Florida and photographed him on the dock above. The boat he is in is totally out of my imagination as is the water.

Collage art - I used the text of “Old man and the sea” stained the papers and applied them to painting. His words come thru the art.
