This allows the industry to escape their responsibilities by placing the consumer as the collectors and return of their product. We use, we pay for collection and return, when in fact we should refuse to use as much product wrapped in plastic as we can.
04.03.2025 08:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Seabirds continue to struggle to break free from our production of plastic. I believe that the return and collection scheme is showing us just how much plastic we use, and is a green light for the production of even more plastic by manufacturers.

It's beauty was all the more apparent as a lone gannet flew along its shores, circling the bay in less that a minute, as it searched for its mornings' breakfast.

I saw some moths flying yesterday evening and decided to investigate further. A quick set up of the moth trap, and when opened early thus morning revealed these two wonderful moths: A pale prominent and an early grey. Isn't nature just wonderful. What patterning and colour.
15.02.2025 13:02 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Every season, Eoghan. Sadly, I've photos going back 15 years. The barren wildscape that it creates is tantamount to ecocide. It is the same on this side, too, but burning has fallen in recent years due to ageing farmers not bothering or them passing.
12.02.2025 12:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Correct, plus so much of it is set on fire every year. What would have come back is now sadly depleted, I'm talking here about heathers, dry and wet heath flora, and it's associated inverts and vertebrate life. Small birds do exist, and its population of chough is now under threat.

To follow up on the topic of microsplastics as discussed on RTΓ Radio 1 during the Claire Byrne show today, take a look at this documentary that I made in 2015 about plastics in our marine environment and it's effects on wildlife.
