Any time a politician says we should leave the ECHR, the very next questions any interviewer should ask are
π¨Which human rights are you willing to lose personally
π¨Which methods of torture are you going to allow people to be sent to face
π¨Which family members would you be willing to lose

This is horrific. Not just the awful violence in Manchester but the fear this attack creates for Jewish people across the UK as they mark Yom Kippur. My solidarity and love to everyone affected.

'I'm looking over shoulder for fear of racism after Farage's disturbing plan'
Two women who have lived in the UK for years are now looking over their shoulder for fear of racism amid Nigel Farageβs targeting of migrants
βThis is my home. I'm raising my three-year-old, I'm looking for a school for her, and now I'm more worried because she's obviously my skin colour, and I'm worried about her safety. I'm worried about my safety." Nish, Youth Organiser at Praxis

Itβs maybe a good thing the Home Office is refusing to engage with civil society. Because when they lose the local elections, they will never be able to say itβs our fault. Weβve told them not to do what theyβre doing. This is on Starmer/Cooper/Mahmood.

In all honesty, itβs not rhetoric any more. Itβs not narrative. Iβve experienced more racism in the last 4 months than I can ever remember. The wheels are off in the UK and itβs being led by 3 political parties.

Starmer to end asylum βgolden ticketβ of resettlement and family reunion rights
People granted asylum will have to earn right to invite family in plan charities call βstraight from populist playbookβ
The idea that being a refugee is somehow a βgolden ticketβ is genuinely awful. These are people who the government have recognised are in need of protection. Do they think people chose that? That thatβs what people wanted?

Italy's biggest union calls for general strike in support of Gaza aid flotilla
Protests are being held in a number of Italian cities this evening in support of the global aid flotilla closing in on Gaza.
This includes in Naples where demonstrators halted train traffic at the main station.
It comes as the country's largest union has called a general strike for Friday in the past hour.
The Italian General Confederation of Labour said: "The attack on civilian vessels carrying Italian citizens represents an extremely serious matter.
"It is a blow to the very constitutional order that impedes humanitarian action and solidarity with the Palestinian population, subjected by the Israeli government to a veritable genocide operation.
"It is a direct attack on the safety and security of workers and volunteers on board."
There is no suggestion of violence on board at this point, and Italy's foreign minister has sought assurances that any interaction with the flotilla remains peaceful.
Italy's largest union calls for a #GeneralStrike in response to the attack on the flotilla.

π¨ The Government wants to crash the economy.
On the very same day the Prime Minister finally distanced himself from Reform UKβs policies, his own Home Secretary announced proposals that would create a two-tier society.

Genuine reflection from Labour conference. The leadership is massively out of step with its own members and civil society. Itβs giving pigheaded. The mood was low,few people impressed or confident in the current vision. The May elections will punish Starmerism and weβll all be worse off for it.

Convince me that this is any different from what Reform proposed on Monday. Okay so theyβre not going to deport people but this will make it impossible for millions of people to ever become citizens of this country.

Govt. could fund local authorities properly so they can like meet the need of local communities. Idk. Shouldnβt need conscripted volunteers if everything is going well.

The voluntary and community sector doesnβt need or want migrants to do forced labour for us in a form of state exploitation. We do need the govt. to stop targeting the groups we serve and fund us to do the jobs the state relies on us for. And to like end poverty and the economic crisis.
