It’s maybe a good thing the Home Office is refusing to engage with civil society. Because when they lose the local elections, they will never be able to say it’s our fault. We’ve told them not to do what they’re doing. This is on Starmer/Cooper/Mahmood.

In all honesty, it’s not rhetoric any more. It’s not narrative. I’ve experienced more racism in the last 4 months than I can ever remember. The wheels are off in the UK and it’s being led by 3 political parties.

Italy's biggest union calls for general strike in support of Gaza aid flotilla Protests are being held in a number of Italian cities this evening in support of the global aid flotilla closing in on Gaza. This includes in Naples where demonstrators halted train traffic at the main station. It comes as the country's largest union has called a general strike for Friday in the past hour. The Italian General Confederation of Labour said: "The attack on civilian vessels carrying Italian citizens represents an extremely serious matter. "It is a blow to the very constitutional order that impedes humanitarian action and solidarity with the Palestinian population, subjected by the Israeli government to a veritable genocide operation. "It is a direct attack on the safety and security of workers and volunteers on board." There is no suggestion of violence on board at this point, and Italy's foreign minister has sought assurances that any interaction with the flotilla remains peaceful.

🚨 The Government wants to crash the economy.

On the very same day the Prime Minister finally distanced himself from Reform UK’s policies, his own Home Secretary announced proposals that would create a two-tier society.

Genuine reflection from Labour conference. The leadership is massively out of step with its own members and civil society. It’s giving pigheaded. The mood was low,few people impressed or confident in the current vision. The May elections will punish Starmerism and we’ll all be worse off for it.

Getting mighty tired of the meme on here of “oh, it is just so difficult for the government to set the agenda”. The government (which literally employs thousands of press officers) is setting the agenda - it’s just that it is setting it on toxic ground it can’t win.

Govt. could fund local authorities properly so they can like meet the need of local communities. Idk. Shouldn’t need conscripted volunteers if everything is going well.

The voluntary and community sector doesn’t need or want migrants to do forced labour for us in a form of state exploitation. We do need the govt. to stop targeting the groups we serve and fund us to do the jobs the state relies on us for. And to like end poverty and the economic crisis.
